I had my first class this weekend and it went very well; however, I'm having an issue with passport photos. I was hoping someone could help me out. I took the pics with my Nikon D40x, and I purchased a Canon Selphy ES40 photo printer. Both do an outstanding job; however, getting the photos into the right 2x2 format is a bit of a trick. Do you have any ideas? How do you all do this quickly? I'm certainly no whiz at photo editing or photoshop (not that I even have that app installed). Any help is appreciated.

.... but for $10 Walgreens will take them for you won't they?

There are also some templates for Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop Elements that will help you get the right ratios etc.

Is the problem that your pictures aren't exactly 2 X 2 or that they aren't even close? If they are close (mine come out 2 X 3) I just trim them.

You can take your photos on a usb stick to Walgreens and have them put it through their machine. Get your passport size pothos in a jif.

I think he is wanting to print them in class for his students so they can take the package with them. Having to go to Walgreen's would not be an option.

It is a good program, but it seems to drop the original resolution to the point where photos occasionally come out grainy. The same photo manually manipulated in Photoshop and printed, will look a little better. Also, there's not enough latitude in the brightness/contrast settings. I find that I must manually edit photos of some darker complected folks to get a suitable amount of detail on the face in contrast with the white background. A color balance would be a nice option. Yes, I'm complaining unnecessarily. Realistically, it's not a problem; at least, not a big enough problem for me to stop using it.

It worked for us on our CHL's and on our passport renewals. BTW, We've still got the program should we want/need more photos and/or want to do a favor. Your $10 to Walgreen's has gone bye-bye.

I also use On-The-Go Passport Photo Software, and it works like a charm. It seems almost too easy! I would say, download the trial and once you see how easy it is, you'll pay the $9.95 to upgrade.

HP A637. I got it mail order for less than 120 dollars. It's a stand alone printer, small, battery power option. Insert your memory card, set the output to passport, it prints two very nice 2X2 pictures on a 5X7 photo paper. They are EXACTLY 2x2 and the color is wonderful. No computer or software is required. Paper, printer, everything fits neatly in a shoebox.
A packet of 140 sheets that includes a print cartridge costs less than 50 bucks.
I take all the pictures as the students come into class, at the first break I stick the card in the printer and in a matter of minutes, all the photos are done.
I shoot the photos with a Sony DSC still camera with a flash.
I wish fingerprints were this simple and inexpensive!
