Saw a big sign yesterday at the Mesquite Rodeo Gun Show advertising a 10 year CHL class for $225.00. Didn't get a chance to check it out. Anybody know anything about it?

Seems like a long time. Neither my initial class nor any of my renewals took more than one weekend.

What state?

Texas lets old school CHLers skip class alternate renewals, but there's no initial 10 year CHL in Texas.

IF I remember correctly, when took my renewal last year, the instructor mentioned that your 3rd TX CHL renewal was good for 10 years. I have not verified that though, I've still got another renewal to go before I worry about that.

Not exactly. You may skip the class, but must submit the application, photo, fingerprints.

If the CHL were ever valid for more than 5 years, it would not qualify for the NICS exemption when buying a firearm.

Wow, that's bold. They're going to charge $225 for a class you're not required to take? (If you qualify for the 10 year CHL, you don't have to take a class, but you do have to renew.)
