A friend sent me this site today and it is amazing and easier to use
than Google Earth, IMHO.

You simply go to the above site, input most any address in the US, and
you will be rewarded with pictures of that address. The navigation to
move the camera around takes a little getting used to, but I just had
many grins looking at former residences of mine. It's weaker on more
rural areas.

Once you are at the address you input, you can move the "N"orth icon
360 degrees with your cursor in order to view homes up and down the street,
and across the street from the address on which you searched.

Um... That's just Google Street view presented in a much less user friendly interface.

Yeah, just a interface to hit Google street view, and not very well done. It also always puts you facing north, and not at the address you searched on. When I search my address the house across the street comes up, which is on the north side of the street.

I have found that google is more wrong than right when it comes to street view.

site, please provide the better website at this sort of thing.

The pics of my house are pre-Ike...I have fewer and thinner trees...And the trashcan is still out on the street...And who's truck is that parked in the driveway???

Somehow a discussion is due in the near future!

If you look at 478 Morris St., Albany, NY, you will see a police officer having just arrived at a car wreck where the car traveling NE on Ontario St ran into the car traveling NW on Morris St.

This is the picture that is on Google Maps.

BTW, the car going NE is clearly in the wrong, even if the driver claims to have had the light.

How do I know this?

Well, I used to live there, but left in 1985, but I notice that Ontario is still ONE WAY! in the opposite direction - the sign is clearly there in the picture.

And the lights facing away from traffic are not active, so the driver going NE could not have had a green light.

Pretty cool. Think I'll use it and google earth next time I want to go camping....will know what the campground entrance looks like before I get there.

And, using jimlongley's old address provided above: 78 Morris St., Albany, NY using the maps.google.com function.

If you click on the locator icon in the middle of the map, one of the options offered will be "street view." Select that, and you get basically the same view provided by vpike.com, except displayed in a larger, easier to see and easier to use format.

Vpike is also copping Zillow.com's online real estate technology, and just like with google maps, you can have a better experience by going directly to zillow.com and running your query there.
