And here I thought the place I work was bad. If I refused to assist somebody that needed help I would be in deep trouble as it stands I got my review today it was pretty good 8.6 out of 10 what hurt me was the fact that I "Don't take ownership" or in plan words because I let people know that bailing them out of their job is not in my job description but I still do the bailing it is just the words that make it up the chain and cause offense to some people.

This is why I run my own business. Stupid corporate politics.

Bad situation. Sounds like she is threatened by you. I've noticed managers that have limited "real" knowledge tend to "act stupidly".

I hear you, I really do. I've been down that road before, and I just hate it. I've had some decent bosses in the past, but some people are martinets who have nothing better to do than to remind their underlings who's in charge. They do it to keep you off balance so you won't get too comfortable in your job. They think that you can be intimidated into being a servile bot. It so totally disregards the notion that you might be a good employee who doesn't need to be bullied simply because you have integrity. And come the next time for a raise, that memo will be in your file. It's a dirty trick, and it betrays their own lack of character.
That's one of the main reasons why, after becoming unemployed in my mid 50s, I chose self-employment rather than subjecting myself to that kind of cretinous behavior any longer. Life is harder, but more at peace.
And you stole my line!
I'M annoyed!

Two words I always hated to hear when used with the word boss - "new" and "she". Can handle either word alone with boss but the combination of the three means nothing but trouble. Sorry ladies, I have had great lady bosses just can't handle the new ones.

Did you point out what was happening? Or did you just sit there and take it?
office politics, it's always something. I think its because people arent used to be cooped up inside all day and it drives them crazy!

Been there, done that with the corporate know-nothings.
The comic strip "Dilbert" has been going for years and really
documents the workplace zoos which many working professionals
must endure to keep a roof over their heads, food on the table,
and some ammo for the gun.

Hey, sorry you got treated so unfairly. I hate to say this, but some companies will find ways to build a negative file on good employees who have earned their way to a good wage so they can be canned to save some payroll. Watch your back.
Not being a rabid feminist, I also have to admit for some reason the more ambitious female manager is hard to take. If you think they are hard on the guys, you should see what they dish to any women they see as rivals.

You're so right about that. It happened to me too, once. I swear, sometimes I am convinced that middle management is the realm of the small minded.

Wow, Just wow. One of our goals for the year is to interact with the other engineers and openly share information among our peers.
I can see if you were talking about something other than work, but man, that manager is the
I agree with the "time to look for new employment" avenue.
