It finally happened

I posted a few months ago about people bypassing the security gate at my girlfriend's apartments. I got various responses to my concerns. Well, yesterday two of those people shot a police officer who lives at the apartments.

I don't have all the details but here's the short version of what I heard from her. The HPD officer was on his way to work when he noticed suspicious behavior. He gave verbal commands. A struggle ensued. Shots were fired. He's in the hospital.

After the fact, residents came out of the woodwork with stories about car and apartment burglaries. Why did it take someone getting shot for residents to speak up? In any case, the cat is out of the bag now. My girlfriend doesn't feel safe living there any more and I don't blame her.

I'm posting in "Never Again!!" to remind people to pay attention when they have a bad feeling about suspicious behavior. It's not always innocent, and it's better to be safe than sorry.

That really sucks. I heard that story on the news, but it was in the background. Where in Houston did this happen?

Well a month ago these same two thugs held friends of ours at gun point while the robbed them in their apt. held women and kids up stairs and man down stairs. she said he was a small guy and she could have taken him.. but.. and yes i did suggest that they get armed and trained so it would never happen again..

the man was outside on phone when they approached asked him if he lived close by he said " yea right there" they took him inside at gunpoint and took tv's and such

random they where a bad crew for sure

I'd bet the 14yo involved in this has a healthy juvie record. Really sad. I know I'm old school, but, when I was high school/college age, I was interested in sports, girls and beer. NEVER, EVER would the thought of doing a agg robbery, burglary etc. even crossed my mind. Total lack of respect, morals and conscience.
These 2 were lucky that someone hasn't already ended their criminal careers, permanently.

If he was a little older and his accomplice was a better shot, he'd be looking at capital murder of a police officer. Murder committed during another crime.

Instead he'll be back on the streets and breaking into your home while you're working or robbing your wife at gunpoint.

If it's a Peace Officer or Firefighter/EMT, it automatically enhances it to a capital felony.

A second suspect that was inside the apartment comes out, he has a weapon, he fires at the officer at least one time, the officer is hit, he falls to the ground, he manages to fire his weapon back," said Senties.
KUDOS to this Officer for staying in the fight. I wish him a speedy recovery and that he can work again soon.

Tuesday, police filed charges against Patrick Carnell Freeman, 19. He is charged with aggravated assault of a public servant. Freeman also faces a charge of burglary of a residence. A second suspect, a juvenile, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a charge of burglary of a habitation.
May they be sentenced and die. (I know they really can't but it's about how I feel)

 The gang bangers are taking the "west side story" too literal.
