I keep getting these spam to my gmail and I'm about real fed up with it. Anyone computer savy that can tell me what to do or how to get rid of it and put these senders on permanent vacation? Oh I think they got into my box through a hijacked email from a friend. So it is that kind.

I like Winchester Silvertips on the 12-oz can.

Oh.... Well, gmail is pretty good about antispam, which is why I use it for new contacts.
You can mark all of the spam messages, then report them all as Spam withone click.

For my other accounts, I use Mailwasher Free. It lets you preview your messages on the server without downloading them. It assumes at first that everything is spam unless you flag the email address as a "friend". After a while it takes just a few seconds to preview, dump the spam. Then you can download the messages as normal.

I used to use Mailwasher too, for a while. I'd recommend it if your mail program works with it. As for gmail, I don't have an account with them, but my hotmail account has something like Rex says gmail has. Once you start marking stuff as Junk, it starts to automatically accumulate in the Junk folder instead of the inbox. Then you just go in every week or so and clean it out, making sure nothing legit got swept up in the process.

One of the banes of webmail programs (like hotmail and gmail) is that they are real susceptible to getting loads of SPAM until you train them otherwise.

There is sometimes a check box that will specify not to let any e-mail through from a contact that is not in your contact list and will place it in a "spam" folder that one can check. If this is an option a particular e-mail can usually be designated not spam and all further e-mails from that address will be let through.

The best way I have found to kill spam is with a liberal amount of Westchester sauce and a vigorous chewing of the teeth followed by swallowing.

Are we talking meat cans, ammo cans or the electronic stuff? Now I'm confused! :headscratch

I answer all spam, requesting a physical postal mail address where I can send the information to. I really love their replies and am gratified knowing that they are wasting their time answering me instead of spamming someone else.

It's a hobby.

I've already marked the incoming messages as Spam so it does get delivered to the spam box. But I don't want to be getting it at all. It is the only piece of junk I get!

these days you just have to ignore it if its being filtered to the spam folder

As long as Gmail is correctly tagging spam just let it die in the Junk folder

Unfortunately its gotten so bad, its not really spam unless its in your inbox

to answer your question there is very little you can do. DONT reply and DONT attempt to unsubscribe
The spammers send tens of millions of emails many are to invalid addresses. If you reply or attempt to unsubscribe all you are doing in most cases is telling them your address is valid and therefore more valuable
