Ok gang, got a bit of a convoluted question. My wife (then fiance) and I moved to Wyoming in the fall of 08. When we got here we got our WY DLs and promptly changed our TX CHLs as well. No big deal. However, in September of 09 we got married (in TX). Since then we've been getting all of her IDs changed over, however as many can attest it takes a while, especially social security card and passport. As a result we still haven't changed the name on her CHL. Now, fast forward to January 2010, we find out we're headed back to Texas.

So, my question then is, do we wait until we're back in Texas (end of February) to change her name (do it at the same time we change the address) or do we need to get the name changed prior to changing the address? For that matter how do you go about a name change? It was tedious enough for me to renew while being out of state, I can only imagine the process for changing a name out of state. I appreciate any help that our wise CHL instructors and others may be able to lend as we're trying to do a lot of stuff long distance at this point.

Fill it out, send it in. I would do the change of address at the same time.

Thank you, that was the form I thought was out there, but for the life of me couldn't find. Yet again the wisdom of the forum is evident!

My wife kept her name. No hassle. Except we get mail (even from family members who should know better) addressed to Mr. and Mrs. [my Lastname]. We find it irritating.
