I'm glad the home owner was not hurt. Unfortunately it had to come to loss of life but sounds like the guy did what he had to do. ***edit*** looks like they updated the story and the homeowner was hurt. Hopefully he will be alright.

Home invasions are deadly. That's been proved time and time again. Only this time the home owner was able to defend his life and property. Thanks for posting.

Wow that is right around the corner from where I went to high school. Seems there is a lot of this type of activity now in that general north Houston area around I-45, Beltway 8, FM 1960 ... my old stomping grounds.

We're hearing about the same MO more and more aren't we. Our dogs usually hear things we can't and if we aren't at home they will hopefully deter anyone from trying to come in.

kids these days i swear.
Similar thing happened in Terrell a couple yrs ago. A guy was walking his dog when he was confronted by two teens with at least one of them being armed. The pet owner had his CHL and if memory serves correctly his pistol in a fanny pack.
long story short....Good guy and Fido 1, BG and friend 0.
Poor kid lost his life. His family was on the news talkin about what a good kid he was and how he was so nice and wouldnt ever hurt anyone and how they cant believe this happened.....I guess no matter how close you are to someone you never REALLY know whats goin on in their head or what kind of person they truly are or what they are capable of.
*****EDIT: By similar i meant that the deceased was also a minor

We saw the same inane comments about the teens who shot the HPD officer earlier this month.

the linked article wrote:They tell us two men had knocked on the door and that when no one answered, they kicked it in. The homeowner was home and was armed.
Sgt. Craig Clopton with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said, ""There was an exchange of gunfire. The homeowner was struck. The two suspects were struck."
It's unclear how badly the homeowner and the second suspect were wounded. Northwest Houston Hospital will not release information on either the homeowner or the second suspect. That surviving suspect we are told is a juvenile.
I have no sympathy for the perp. I really don't. I don't care how old the suspect is. If you come to kick down
my door with a gun in your hand,
one of us is going to the morgue or hospital, and it ain't gonna be me if I have any say in the matter. You show up with violence in your heart and on your mind with the intent of forcing your way into my home, you are a predator. A young predator can kill you just as dead as an old predator. They're still predators.

Yeah I saw that was updated. They were not reporting that at first. I hope the homeowner is ok.

TAM, do I have your permission to have this printed up real nice on a plaque and bolt it to my front door?
OK, not really, but I do completely support your sentiments. Once a human being is violently inside my house with a weapon, I don't really care one bit "why" I just want the threat removed as swiftly and decisively as possible.

This is why I carry at home. I work from home and live in a pretty quiet neighborhood. I think it would be very easy for someone to think no one was there and try the break in. I wish a speedy recovery to the homeowner.

Another nice house in a nice neighborhood where I'm sure "nothing bad ever happens".
