I had a fun conversation with my brother about all of the sayings our parents had when we were a kid. Here are just a few:

** You had better wipe that smile off your face before I do it for you.

** Stop your crying before I give you something to cry about.

** Don't put that in your mouth, you don't know where it's been.

** Wipe your feet!

** Look at me when I'm talking to you.

** Don't you look at me like that!

** Did you flush?

** Two wrongs don't make a right.

** Don't talk with your mouth full!

** This hurts me more than it hurts you.

When I was a kid we never had air conditioning so it was more along the lines of "close the door, you're letting all of the flies in!"

Of course, there's always the ultimate threat - "Wait until your father gets home!"

My grandmother told me to cut a switch off the tree. I climbed that son of a gun and wouldnt come down till she promised not to hit me.
