Has anyone ever heard of someone whose legal name had the suffix "Sr."?

That's the way I was thinking. I've heard of people to someone as So and So, Sr., but cannot imaging anyone actually having Sr. on their birth certificate or going to the trouble of legally adding it to their name when Jr. was born.chartreuse wrote:Yes, but as Jr would be unlikely to have been born at the time Sr was Christened, how would they know?
I'm betting that unofficially adding "Sr." will cause as much, if not more, trouble (especially when you pass). My son is a III'd and we have never had any trouble. My dad has never used "Sr." as it is not his legal name. I suspect that, except for a very few that have actually had a legal name chage done to add "Sr.", there really aren't any with "Sr." on their driver's license of CHL. Yeah, a couple of my son's creditors have called but those are opportunities to make money for me if the same one calls more than once after being instructed no to call . This article explains it pretty well: http://www.dallasobserver.com/2010-01-2 ... sues-them/ It may have some questionable language toward the end. Be forewarned.davidtx wrote:I'm the father of a Jr. and therefore a Sr. My son has always used his middle name, but when he reached the age where he started entering contracts that had his full name and my address, I added Sr. to the end of my name. No legal name change, I just started doing it in hopes of disambiguating the two of us in any records.

My advice to anybody that is contemplating naming a beautiful new son with the same name as you - DON'T. Its almost impossible to get consistent use of Sr. and Jr. in records. You can do your best, but ultimately have no control over what your son does later in life. My son is a fine young man and I'm very proud of him, but he didn't always pay his cell phone (and other) bills on any kind of schedule. I just tried to forward his W2 to his new address up north and it ended up back in my mailbox... In our current society, it just isn't worth it.

My driver's license has SR on it, my CHL doesn't. I just checked my copy of the CHL app and its my mistake.ninemm wrote:[SNIP]

That might not be good.davidtx wrote:My driver's license has SR on it, my CHL doesn't. I just checked my copy of the CHL app and its my mistake.ninemm wrote:[SNIP]
