This is right down the street from me. Article states that this is the second murder in Denton in two weeks but I have not heard of another and can't find it on the web.

Seeing this one one the news this morning ogt the wife to understand my want for a chl and now might let me keep something in the house. So far she has held her ground that if I feel the need to carry for my work evironment that is fine but it never comes in the house.

What is her response to you asking what does she expect to happen if an armed intruder gets into your house and you have no means to defend both of your lives?

Criminals are getting bolder every single day that goes by. They have no concern for anybodies life except their own.

I heard that on WBAP a few minutes ago. It's another example of it can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere....even in your own home. I pray for the slain victim, his family, and I pray the murderer gets caught quick.

I hope your wife does see the wisdom in your desires to be able to protect yourself and your family. :tiphat:

She is just uneducated on the subject so far and is concerned with our childrens saftey from the gun itself. I have just started this process and took a level one markmanship class a few days ago and will take my CHL class in a few weeks. I do not own a gun yet but should have one in a few weeks as well. I have talked about a gun safe and she did not want to hear it but as I get more educated on the subject I can educate here on the sunjsct too. She has been asked freinds and family how they feel about the subject looking for support and has ben surprised to learn that all of her family member have multiple guns in the house and that some of them carry.

Sometimes it is a slow process but I will get her to understand and accept what I am doing sooner than later.

Having been married only once, and living my dream for 19 years and counting now, I'm perhaps naive and sheltered.. BUT.. I do not understand the concept of one spouse laying down the gauntlet of law and forbidding the other from an action.

Martial counseling aside.... educate, bring in friends that are educate in gin ownership, storage and carrying, research and provide articles that depict successful methods of gun ownership in a home with children. Ultimately,, it's s choice between BOTH of you.. and your choice at what action to take if the other party will not come to a suitable well reasoned conclusion.

The Cornered Cat site (http://www.corneredcat.com/TOC.aspx) talks about guns from a woman's point of view. I think it would be a useful part of your education process.

finally found some info on the second murder case.

Denton Police Are Investigating the Death of A Man Who Was Stabbed During A Reported Home Invasion On Fry Street
On 3-22-10 at 3:40AM Denton Police were called to the 300 block of Fry Street in reference to a
deceased male in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Officers located a 64 year old male who told
them that the deceased male, an acquaintance who appeared to be in his late 20’s, forced entry into his
apartment in an attempt to rob him. The victim reported that during the struggle he was able to grab a
knife and stab the intruder. The suspect left the apartment on foot and collapsed in the parking lot.
Denton Police Detectives are investigating the matter.

Why is it so hard to ever find any follow up articles on these type of reports in the new?

On another note I found a wed site called Nixle that send you updates up police alerts in your town.

The murdered golf business owner's father was the police chief
in Seminole, TX (Gaines County), close by Hobbs, New Mexico.
Although his father must have been retired for years, I wonder
if this could be long distance and long time retaliation by someone
his dad arrested years ago.

The murder victim had a couch in his office where he overnighted
sometimes. His wife did not think anything of it when he was
not at home that night. She found him in the office dead when
she showed up in the AM. Sad, sad, sad.

I agree.
When something really gets my attention, I would like to know what eventually happens.
corollary: Why are crime scene videos always blurry and unfocused.
Is that to protect the accused?
Or is it intentional or just cheap equipment?
