Somali pirates apparently lack common sense. According to AP the pirates attempted to hijack a U. S. Navy missle Frigate for ransom. The bording party's skiff was sunk and the mother ship was captured five pirates are in custody. Go Navy!

Tuesday's Law & Order:Criminal Intent episode included someone operating pirate hunts, but from a yacht rather than a cruise ship. Full auto firearms and RPGs were provided. Problem was, the boat they showed blowing up was royalty instead of pirates.

Don't know whether the episode was inspired by rumor or some nugget of pirate hunting truth.

A question if you please:

Unarmed tankers and freighters (mostly tankers) in an area known to be frequented by armed pirates (?) must pay higher insurance premiums. Higher insurance premiums are passed on to the consumer of the various cargos.

Surely to goodness, this is not a financial conspiracy to further bugger the world's consumers?
