I see the Subject line has caught your attention! I meant to post
this yesterday, 4/1, for the obvious reason.
Long before Springfield Armory came to mean XD's made in Croatia,
the Springfield Armory in Springfield, Mass was an important part of
the US military weapon system.
The above story is about Shays Rebellion, which took place in 1786-1787.
Daniel Shays and his rebels were on their way to seize weapons there to
further their cause. But other Americans got there first, and seized the
weapons against orders by the proper officials, since Congress was not
in session.
It's kind of a long piece, but it is a rather fascinating story of some of
the new America's growing pains. How would you like to be thrown in
debtors' prison for owing $5 or more?
