Picked up a Marlin 60 yesterday at Academy. Will be taking it out to a HUGE shooting event at a buddy's place this weekend to test it out. I'm thinking of using this rifle for an Appleseed event, so I ordered some Tech Sights, a USGI sling, and sling mounts for it.

good choice for an inexpensive, and very accurate rifle. The only real "issue" that seems to crop up pretty often is with the ejector. If you have problems with it, PM me and I'll link you to the fixes.... they are pretty simple DIY things.

Of all the .22 rifles I've had, the Model 60 I bought last year has been the most accurate, fun shooter of the bunch. Side by side with any other off the shelf .22 offering, the Model 60 can easily hold it's own.

Certainly one of the best values in a .22. Surprisingly accurate, especially considering the price. Every collection should have one.

I've had positive experience with two Model 60's, purchased years apart.

The first one I bought from Target. Yes, Target used to sell guns! Caught it on sale for $49.95, with scope. It has survived a ton of cheap .22LR, a bipod, and a BMF Activator. My brother has it today, and it still works just fine.

The second 60 I bought was for my youngest son.

I have a 1 year old son and one of the things in mind when I was thinking about a 22 rifle was something I could train him on when he gets a little older.

I am thinking of getting the same rifle but am being dissuaded by friends saying that it would be a pain at appleseed due to it being tube fed. Any thoughts on this?

One of these can speed up reloading.

I've read about people making their own speed loaders for tube mags out of tubing or even old arrows. I intend to try this at some point.

I hope you enjoy your new Marlin 60 as much as I am enjoying the one I bought recently.

I actually looked at the speed loaders last night and put that on my birthday list.

DO NOT pass Go, and DO NOT pick up your $200 until after you get one of these! I got one for my Marlin 60 and it is the greatest thing since Hoppe's #9!

That's one thing I love about this place -- honest feedback from real guys (and gals). Glad to see that I didn't put a gimmick on my birthday list. From what I've seen, it's pretty much a 'must' for using the Marlin 60 at Appleseed. The speed loader can hold 15 rounds per speed tube, and while the documentation for the Marlin 60 says that the tube holds 14 rounds, apparently if the bolt is closed it can actually hold 15.

Yeah, same with my 60, except it's one of the older ones. It holds 18 when the bolt is closed, 17 if its locked open.

I have a Spee-D-Loader and it's great for the Marlin and the Henry rifles.

What's considered a good NIB price for one of these? I was in Walmart and saw a $200 price tag for a Marlin 60. I thought they were less expensive than that.
