Fuddruckers Austin?

This was posted to another forum recently. It is a response to an inquiry about carrying in Fuddruckers.
Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. Thank you very much
for your feedback and we are glad to know that you enjoyed Fuddruckers!
Regarding the open carry laws, Fuddruckers decision not to allow guns
in the restaurants is not a statement about gun rights or laws. It is
however, a statement about the primary importance of creating and
maintaining a comfortable environment for all of Fuddruckers guests.
Open carry laws are changing in various states. Therefore, restaurants
are more clearly communicating their policies to guests. Fuddruckers
has had a no weapons policy for several years but it wasn't being
enforced in all locations. By enforcing its no-weapons policy,
Fuddruckers is enforcing its rights as a private business to create
the sort of dining environment we believe best suits and appeals to all or
the majority of our guests.
On behalf of Fuddruckers, Inc., we sincerely appreciate you time and
feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that you will no longer visit
Fuddruckers.

Interesting. I've been to two in the Houston and Katy areas and neither are posted from what I can tell.

Was the original post in the other forum asking about open carry or their policy on concealed carry? Doesn't make any sense. Open carry is not allowed in Texas.

Apparently so. The original post was from a soldier who patronized them when stateside, no location specified.
The response was from Austin, I supposed their HQ is there.

Someone needs to recommend to Ms. Thompson that she read Suzanna Gratia Hupp's book. Luby's was not responsible for the Killeen tragedy, because civilian carry was against the law at the time. But now that civilian carry is legal, if God-forbid a repeat of the Luby's massacre were to occur at a Fuddruckers, I'll help raise money for the wrongful death lawsuits against that chain.
As far as I'm concerned, if Fuddruckers is going to deny customers their legal and legitimate self-defense rights, then they just agreed to take total responsibility for the personal safety of every one of their patrons.

Well, until they post 30.06 signs at their doors, this isn't going to affect us directly.
And their liability is not affected, at least in Texas, until that happens.
Many of us, however, will choose other places to dine rather than support a company whose policies we do not agree with.

I understand the point of the post and the issue at hand.. But personally, ... bad food, overpriced, and add in corporate policy that is at best ill conceived and personally distasteful to me.. No brainier and no loss to me.. I'll just chose to eat in a place that has good food....
