The law only addresses it as the "premises of a racetrack". There is no reference as to what type of activities would or would not allow CCW. Unless someone has actually interpreted this previously, it could be a pretty expensive test case.

All race tracks would be off limits.

Does RaceTrack include stock car tracks? What about in the camper at a Nascar race?

:iagree:

I don't know why they picked a venue where I'm not welcome, but I'm respecting their wishes and not going.

In addition, considering their choice to have the event at a private venue out by the beltway, instead of a highly visible public location near downtown, it's looks like they're more interested in entertainment than activism. Nothing wrong with that. "Party" has more than one meaning. However, I predict the Houston-area congressional socialists are safe this November.

PC 46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly possesses or goes with a firearm, illegal knife, club, or prohibited weapon listed in Section 46.05(a):
(4) on the premises of a racetrack;

PC 46.01. (15) "Racetrack" has the meaning assigned that term by the Texas Racing Act (Article 179e, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes).

Texas Racing Act Sec. 1.03: (25) "Racetrack" means a facility that is licensed under this Act for the conduct of pari-mutuel wagering on greyhound racing or horse racing.

A NASCAR race is a "professional sporting event", but the prohibition on carry applies to the "premises", defined in statute: "Premises" means a building or a portion of a building. The term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.

They were checking for weapons when you were entering. They did not ask if i had my gun really. they did ask the person in front if they had any guns or other weapons. They seemed more concerned about knifes. They kept asking if i had any in my pocket. which i didn't. just seemed a little weird that i was going to a freedom rally and i felt like i was entering an airport in a way. :???:

If you mean the racetrack ban, it is because Texas allows simulcast betting. Even when we do not have races going on, you can watch and bet on races at various tracks around the country.

it is the same as schools though. The type of premise forbids weapons, even if it is 3:30 a.m. and there is no normal activity at that location.

:iagree: I visited a church this weekend that meets in a school cafeteria. Felt real naked with my gun outside.
At my Regular church this would not be a problem....unless you cross into the school portion.
