HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 13-year-old girl was suspended from school after she was accused of threatening her teacher. Her family says it's a misunderstanding under a zero tolerance policy.

Taylor was wearing an NYPD shirt at school. She says in the last moments of math class, she and some friends were pretending to be police officers.
"I was shooting the markers at the front of the board," Taylor Trostle said. "It was just like this and I was like 'pow pow' and then she just turned around."
Taylor was sent to the principal's office and immediately suspended for three days. Her write up says the finger gun was pointed in the teacher's direction.
"That was considered a terroristic threat because the teacher feared for her life," Kristin Trostle said.
According to Cy-Fair ISD's code of conduct, a terroristic threat is a level four violation, which is on par with assault, public lewdness, or selling alcohol or drugs at school. Any threat to a teacher falls under a 'zero tolerance policy.'

I guess from now on fingerpointing will justify self defense

I had to go and dig it out, but I saw this similar case of a Kindergartner in Grand Rapids Mich. last month.

I guess if this kind of insanity is reaching Texas, it might be time to look at closing the Northern Border.

Maybe the teacher needs to be dropped into Ciudad Juarez for some perspective.

Having said that we don't know what really went on. Sound like they were being disruptive. 13 year olds playing like cops and making pew pew noises at the chalkboard? That doesn't sound right.

I was going to make a joke about sending out neighborhood patrols to seek and snuff out young children playing C&R or C&I to make sure none were using the deadly finger into gun threats. I guess they're already doing that. I am now assured that the world has gone completely crazy.
The girl should have just produced a baton and said she's heading for a polling place after school!

Gentlefolk,
Our grandson was in kindergarten in Helena, AL 4-5 years ago when another kid told the teacher that Joey was making "gun signs". Joey was sent to the Principal's office and his mother was called to the school. Joey's mother was told that if Joey made "gun signs" again he would be sent home and could not return until after he had been evaluated. BTW, Helena is a bedroom community of Birminham (ROLL TIDE!) and it is not a marginal area nor is Helena a slum; quite the contrary.
Ignorance of this type by left wing humans in the guise of teachers of your children ain't funny!

I am sooooo glad we homeschool. I have a 17 and 13 year old who are stunning in their knowledge, firm in their beliefs and one is proficient in handguns.

When I was a little boy I accompanied my mother on a Walmart trip. I was wandering the toy aisle focused on the items on the shelf when I bumped into an older woman. She said, "Oh, excuse me baby!" and continued on down the aisle. As she walked away I gave her a glare, readied my hand over my invisible holster, drew my finger pistol and muttered, "I'm not a baby". The hammer dropped and Pow!
Point being, everybody has played cops and robbers, this should not be an issue.

When I was about 20 years younger I blew up the mail truck with my pretend bazooka and then went to get the mail from the mailbox. The mail lady yelled at me when I got there.

This incident illustrates a quandry I have. In many cases it appears teachers and administrators have no effective means to control students --they have to watch out for the little darlin's self-esteem so no red pens to grade papers, they can't swat them on the butt (except in Temple, TX, apparently), and so on. Yet when they do exercise some authority, it is in such a mind-bogglingly absurd, stupid, oppressive manner, it is clear that not only should they not have greater authority, they shouldn't be anywhere near children. Gah. It seems like the only solution is to scrap the whole public education system and start over. My hat is off to home-schoolers who can do it.
