Magtech Small Pistol Primers

I picked up a Springfield 1911 ss 9mm last weekend and it came with a reloading setup... Lee Turret with 9mm dies, a lp of Titegroup and a lb of Bullseye.. some 147 lead bullets, brass, etc..

There are also two hundred Magtech small pistol primers (1 1/2 ). Are these good primers??? Is anyone using these?? Do different primes make a difference when building the load.. Let's say I'm in Bass Pro and they have CCI or Winchester. Could I pick these up and still use the same load that I developed with the Magtech or would I have to start over again??

BTW, thanks to your inputs I now have 500 shinny 9mm cases bagged up..

Thanks,

Capt Roy

I have 1,000 of them, but I haven't tried them yet. Magtech makes decent ammo though, so I'm sure their primers are just fine.

I've never used magtech primers but all small pistol primers are the same except for magnum.I have found that CCI primers are really hard to fire. They seem to be harder to detonate than other brands.I use winchester primers my self and have never had any problems. Now I have run across some .45 brass that had a large primer hole like they should but I have also seen some with small holes, which I think is odd. Magnum primers are a little taller than regular primers and may not seat flush. sj

I've fired about 1,000 rounds with Magtech SP primers so far. Not one failure yet. I chrono'd the same loads with Magtech and CCI primers and got no discernible difference between the two. All have been fired from a Glock 19 or XD subcompact.

I actually loaded my first rounds with Magtech last night. Haven't fired them yet. I have always used Winchester and occasionally CCI. The one aggravating thing about the batch I had was that each sleeve had primers turned in both directions....just a nagging inconvenience. It will probably be a week or two but I now have about 500 rounds in 9mm to try them out.
