Think I'm being Punked

Picked up my mail on Friday. I found an unfamiliar magazine in the stack of mail. "Bloomberg Businessweek"!!

I presume this is the "Bloomberg" who is mayor of NYC? I certainly wouldn't have subscribed to such a rag.

Its addressed to me personally. According to the subscription cards in the mag -- 100 issues for $100. I'd much rather whoever subscribed me had just mailed me the "C" note!

One article is "How Do You Stave Off a Slump? Have Uncle Sam Play the Market". I don't think we need the Govt. moving the Stock Market by making investments in various industries. That just strikes me as dangerous. Of course, so does having the Govt. take over various industries (Automotive, Health Care, Banking, etc.).

Anybody else receive this magazine out of the blue? :headscratch

This is a business magazine published by the business corporation, Bloomberg. It has nothing to do with the mayor of NYC.

If you don't want them, I'll take 'em. :tiphat:

Yup, yup. :iagree: Bloomberg is very well know in the financial circles. Like Barron's & Wall Street Journal. They even have a financial news network.

And NO relation what so ever to the guy up in New York City. :bigmouth

Sorry guys, according to Wikipedia y'all are wrong. Bloomberg and Bloomberg Businessweek are linked

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Bloomberg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
He is the founder and 88% owner of Bloomberg L.P., a financial news and information services media company.[3][4][5]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloomberg_L.P" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
In October 2009, Bloomberg LP acquired Businessweek Magazine from McGraw Hill [12]

Bingo. Where do y'all think Mayor Bloomberg got the money to do his advocacy "social work?"

Phew -- guess I dodged THAT bullet! I just presumed the names were related. And that Bloomberg (the Mayor) had enough money to publish (or own) a business rag.

Wow -- he started as a "lifelong" democrat. Then became a Republican to run for Mayor in 2001, Then became an Independent in 2007 for a possible presidential run. Then he amended the NYC term limits laws in 2008 to run for a third term as Mayor. Guess he IS and DOES whatever he has to, to get what he wants... :nono: :nono:

It IS the same person. The current Mayor Bloomberg amassed a personal fortune in the billions ($18 billion, 8th richest man in the U.S.) in the stock market (with Saloman Brothers, and others) before financing his own run for mayor. Among his business ventures is Bloomberg L.P., which is the publisher of Bloomberg Business Week. He is a former democrat who re-registered as a republican so he could run for the office. As you pointed out, he switched his party affiliation after getting elected as mayor to "independent" after having failed early on in a bid to gain a republican presidential or vice-presidential nomination. He is an unprincipled feudal oligarch in the same mold as George Soros who thinks that his privileged wealth gives him the right to defraud Americans of their constitutional inheritance.

I can't stand the guy.

Don't feel too bad ya'll, I recently learned that "The Washington Times" and Kahr Arms are both owned and operated by The Rev. Moon - (you know, "the Moonies")
IIRC, Kahr Arms is run by his son.

Gee, and yet you speak so glowingly of him.... "rlol"

(Yes, I presumed it was him, and it turned out I was right.)
