An armed robber trying to fund a drug habit has instead been flattened by a chair.

The extraordinary courage of witness Martin Richardson was captured on CCTV at a betting shop in Burley in Leeds.

The gun was pointed directly at him. But without a single thought for his own safety he picked up a chair and fought back.

Bookie shops are legal in the UK. This substance abuser had robbed the store 3 times before.
This tape was taken during his 4th robbery.

I couldn't tell what his handgun was. It looks like a semi-auto was my only thought.

The robber was a lefty. Even though he had the gun pointed at Mr. Richardson, the Good
Samaritan still continued to assault the bad guy with the stool. Notice that the robber's eyes
and gun hand follow the chair upward.

Unfortunately there was no further detail. Hopefully the crazy British LEO's will not prosecute
Mr. Richardson for capturing the robber.

Looks like the robber broke one of Tuco's rules, "If you going to shoot...shoot, don't talk."

I assume the fellow is up on charges.

(The one in yellow, of course; self defense is treated more harshly in England than the crime you're defending yourself from.)

This reminds me of the guy who attacked an armed robber with a beer bottle in a convenience store. If he had a wine bottle, things may have turned out much differently. If he had a gun and knew how to use it, it certainly would have turned out differently.
