834b. (a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully
cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization
Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is
suspected of being present in the United States in violation of
federal immigration laws.
(b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected
of being present in the United States in violation of federal
immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the
following:
(1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen
of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent
resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time
or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of
immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not
be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and
place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding
documentation to indicate his or her legal status.
(2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien
who is present in the United States in violation of federal
immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal
justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or
leave the United States.
(3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United
States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal
status and provide any additional information that may be requested
by any other public entity.
(c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city,
county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with
jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent
or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly
prohibited.
Where's the outrage? Is Austin going to waste taxpayer dollars to draw up another charter, prohibiting business with a city (or in this case, a state)?

If they enforced the laws in California, the state's population would be diminished by 25%. California doesn't give a rip about any law that doesn't involve curbs on the RKBA or spending more of the taxpayers' money.

The few days I've spent in CA, I agree, it's a beautiful place.

It's just a tad liberal for me, however. I like my guns too much!

I would like to know where the outrage is from the “silent majority”. Is there any organization actively opposing these boycotts?

This situation turns my stomach. :mad5 :banghead:

Um. Could you explain what version of the English-language dictionary you use?

To channel Inigo Montoya, "You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means." :biggrinjester:

And on another note... Has anyone heard how much hot water Laker's coach Phil Jackson got himself into? All he said was "It seems like the Arizona bill just mirrors US immigration law."

Of course, now he's backpedaling from stating the obvious - he "does not support Arizona in this decision, yada, yada..." BAAAARF!!!

The NBA has been sticking its nose in this issue quite a bit. Which I find incredibly ironic considering the amount of criminals they have in their league to begin with. Maybe the felons just like to stick together.

I boycotted California by leaving. Though I do miss it in several ways, I am glad as a whole we moved. Especially now that they're poised to elect Jerry Brown as governor (again). Not all of California is liberal, but the regions that control the state are REALLY liberal. The unfortunate thing is they are choking off their own industries (especially agriculture) and they don't even realize it.

I think it is all about marketing. The whole "Los Suns" thing, along with the Spurs having a "Los Spurs" night at least once a season for the last two or three years shows a blatant attempt to cater to the "Hispanic market". I'm surprised they aren't doing what the NFL and the Cowboys do and start playing some regular season games south of the border. Of course, it may no longer be safe to do so, but there are probably enough armed NBA players to make up their own personal security force. But, there's that whole "felon carrying a gun" thing that may stop them - since we all know they obey the law, they were just set up when they got caught.

The NFL actually did something like that I believe last year where they did a full blown simulcast and would keep cutting to it during the game.

The Cowboys have played at least a pre-season game in Mexico for the last few years. Jerry Jones sees it as marketing - anything to extend the brand (and keep an NFL team out of San Antonio). There have been a few games in England, too, but they've been less successful from the accounts I've seen.

From what I understand there are 13 organizations (States) opposing them.

Oh by the way...I realize that Jerry Brown is a nut-case from way back when, but you might be surprised by his actions as CA Attorney General lately in regards to RKBA.
