And telling it like it is:
I am the elected sheriff. I don’t report to any governor, any legislature, any mayor and city council. I report directly to the people. And, remember, I’ve already retired — 32 years as a law enforcement guy. I don’t need this job. I’m not building a résumé to be the governor. I could have been the governor two times over. Everybody knows that. I just have a special link with the people I serve. The only reason I work 15 hours a day, seven days a week — and I’m not a young guy — is because I’m motivated by the people. And when I go after a certain policy, I go full force, I don’t do it halfway. It’s controversial, but it doesn’t bother me; if people don’t like it, go vote for somebody else this year--Joe Arpaio, sheriff of Maricopa County,AZ

Here's the deal I suggest.........

So, ICE director (or whatever he is called) has said ICE "will not necessarily" pick up the illegals arrested by Arizona LEO's.

I say (and I hope the Gov of Arizona agrees) give Joe more tents and instead of putting up with the inept Federal Govt., just call Joe and his guys will come and get them!

It's just too bad that we don't have more Joe's in this Country and less of the "others".

Forget tents. Give them (especially the OTM) a one way bus ride to DC. If ICE won't come for the illegals, deliver the illegals to ICE HQ.

Joe lived next door to me in Acton when he was regional head of the Boston DEA. Don't know if he is still married to Ava, a fine gracious and beautiful lady, but trust me, Joe is a media construct. He used to mow his grass and kill his weeds just like I did.

Now, there's an idea I can support!

My guess is that he means Arpaio is a regular guy who puts his pants on one leg at a time, while the liberal media has painted him as a racist enforcer, and the conservative media has painted him as a hero.

In my book, he's just a guy who does his job — quite well, I might add — and doesn't care what people think about him for doing it. I watched a program one time about him and his "prison." It was actually remarkable how well he got along with the prisoners. The ones who agreed to be interviewed didn't much like being there, but they all thought he was a fair man. As to the allegedly "cruel" sack lunches, they all agreed that it was a better lunch than they had been getting daily on the outside.

I don't think he's perfect, but only because none of us are. I do admire his willingness to stand up for what he believes is right, and that he seems willing to do it without a trace of malicious intent.

I lived in a GP Medium for a year over in Slavonski Brod, Croatia and Taszár, Hungary during Clinton's little Balkan camping trip.

Sheriff Joe rocks.

He gave his prisoners pink underwear so that they'd pull
up their britches and wouldn't steal underwear.

He has a motel-like sign posted high above his prison - VACANCY. :-)

Sheriff Joe reminds me of Sheila Jackson Lee in that he never met a media camera he didn't like. Well .. he might be a little smarter than Queen Sheila.

Most public figures like a media camera to some degree or other. For me, that's not so much an issue. They have a message to communicate, and they use the media to do it. I would too if I were in their shoes. The media uses their camera subjects to get ratings and sell advertising. Why shouldn't the camera subjects use the media in return to get their message out? What's important to me is what that person is doing/saying on camera, and secondly, whether or not those on-camera words/actions are consistent with the rest of the person's life.

Arpaio may spend more time in front of a camera than you or I, but A) I approve of what he says on camera; and B) what he says on camera is consistent with the rest of his life. So I don't know if Arpaio is a media hound as much as he is a public figure who, by virtue of being a public figure, finds himself in front of a camera more than the average bear; but I do believe that he's the real deal.

SJL on the other hand, who also spends a lot of time in front of a camera, is a liar, a profligate spender, a whacky conspiracy theorist, and a race-baiter who has never had a productive day in her life that didn't involve producing shiftless stupidity and intellectual dishonesty. I wouldn't hire her to pick up dog droppings. She's not qualified.

Joe Arpaio gets a lot of camera time, like I said in my previous post, because the liberal media thinks he's dangerous and outlandish and the public should be warned, and because the conservative media thinks he's a hero and should be recognized for it. I think that Joe Arpaio sees a media camera, and is able to look beyond who is wielding it and say to himself "If I speak to this camera, my message will get out beyond the confines of the oxygen deprived atmosphere of a newsroom to the American people, and they will be able to discern my message." Sheila Jackson Lee, on the other hand, actually doesn't get as much media attention as she should have because she is an embarrassment to the liberal media, and they know it. If she got Joe Arpaio's amount of coverage, the public outrage against her would extend beyond Texas, and they can't have that because it would harm their favored party's chances in other states.

So I don't care if Arpaio gets in front of cameras or not. No, actually, I do care. I want him in front of cameras because his message needs to be spread, by whatever means, because his message resonates with people who give a rip about a society and political landscape gone out of control. But SJL also needs to get more camera time, because she is the face of a certain segment of the democrat party, like it or not, and people need to be aware of what that segment stands for, so they can make informed voting decisions.

So I say, give them both a weekly one hour special on all the major networks for the next year, and let's see whether it helps conservatives and hurts liberals, or visa versa.

Any takers?

A brick is smarter than SJL.
