According to reports in the Houston Chronicle and Channel 13 (ABC), a Fort Bend County sheriff deputy and a female bystander were shot by an alleged bank robber armed with a full-auto machine gun. The alleged suspect was reportedly shot dead by another officer.

The officer and bystander who were shot are expected to make a full recovery.

If this story is accurate, it would be about the third criminal use of a full-auto machine gun in the U.S. in, oh, 70 years. The Chronicle article is not specific about the model of weapon. Channel 13 says an AK-47.

Please note that the description of a full-auto weapon is a quote from a spokesman of the sheriff's office.

I hate it when they (BG's) use machine guns.

It probably came from Mexico. Obama should tell them they need stricter gun laws.

It couldn't have been full auto. They were outlawed years ago.

Machine guns are perfectly legal. Possessing one without the requisite tax stamp is a problem, except for the police and military.

If you open carry your machine gun slung over your shoulder with a sling in Texas, you better have your Federal BATF tax stamp/reciept/paperwork etc with you.... wouldn't hurt to have a copy of the Penal Code to show any officer who didn't know it's legal I suppose. (Though I wouldn't thnk it wise to open carry one)

(c) It is a defense to prosecution under this section that the actor's possession was pursuant to registration pursuant to the National Firearms Act, as amended.

If you fail to pay your Five dollars to own or two hundred dollars to manufacture, and fill out the form, the BATF has been known to shoot your dog, wife and kids and burn the house (on more than one occaision).

They are the tax collection agency for tobacco, firearms etc... so stay legal and pay the 5 bucks if you get one.

The tax stamp for purchasing a machine gun, SBR, etc is $200. Any other weapon is $5.

Thanks for the correction ... I had AOW on my mind at the time due to another thought process in another forum.
