The above link is a breakdown of all the deaths and woundings during
conflicts in which the US has been involved from 1775 to 2008.
I sourced this information from a newspaper column by Mr. Perry Peary
of Austin. His email for any comments you may wish to make is

Memorial Day is a time to remember the ultimate sacrifice that many have
made in the name of freedom.
More than 1,190,000 people who have died for our rights is a rather
sobering number. That's a good-sized metro city.
