renewed my NRA membership
received baseball cap in the mail - NRA on the front, American flag on the side.

Inside the cap? Tag says 'Made in China'. That is just wrong.

Yeah, ironic isn't it ?

FYI..most American Flags are made in China while Fortune cookies are made in the U.S. :???:

American-made, even union-made blank baseball caps are available for less than $5 in quantity. GIYF.

This kind of stuff is probably done by the contractors that the NRA gets to run promotions. Not that the management couldn't supervise better. This is not the first time that people have complained about NRA items made in China.

That said, I wish people would realize that the NRA annual fee of $35 (minus whatever discounts are offered) is the admission fee to the rodeo. People expect a lot from the NRA for the price of a box of ammo.

Lately, I've been making a real effort to look for items made in the USA and they're definitely available and often times competitive in price. Picked up three six-packs of kids socks yesterday for three of my grandkids and while it took a bit more looking through the items available, I managed to find all three packages made in the USA and all three were better priced than the Chinese alternative on the same rack.

I was also washing out my NRA cup this morning when I noticed the sticker on the bottom said "CHINA". :nono:

I'll tell you what is even more wrong than some simple ball caps:

Some of our most famous brands of guns come
from "anti" states!!

Kahr - HQ is Blauvelt, NY.
Manufactured in Worcester, Mass.

Kimber - HQ is Yonkers, NY.
Manufacturing is in Ridgefield, NJ.

Ruger - HQ in Fairfield, CT.
But made in the more 2A friendly Newport, NH
and Prescott, AZ.

Smith and Wesson - HQ and made in Springfield, Mass.
I'm sure Mass. likes the jobs and the tax revenue, but
Mass. doesn't make it easy for anyone to enjoy these
guns.

We've had this discussion before. :grumble

We've also talked about buying firearms that are made in countries where the government does not allow its citizens (other than the elite) to own them.

It wasn't an agreeable discussion last time: http://www.texaschlforum.com/viewtopic. ... 5&p=363828" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Well-intentioned members of this forum have very different views on the subject of firearms manufacturers in restrictive states.

OK, we form a committee, gather legislature support, with private funding and try to get some of these "guys" to move to Texas. :thumbs2:

My father was, for a time, a Deputy U.S. Marshal.

When he first started the job, he was issued a badge. Round, silver, star device in the center, "U.S. Marshal" engraved on the front.

"Made in China" engraved on the back.

IIRC, when it was decided that the soldiers of the entire US Army were to be issued berets, there was an outcry because they were made in China.

As an aside, only Ruger semi auto pistols are made in AZ.

Maybe, by buying the hats there, the NRA is funding efforts in China to allow its citizenry to carry arms, thus removing the heavy yoke of extreme repression that they have carried for decades, if not millenia. :clapping:
