free kittens (all kittens are now placed!)

We found these on the front porch this morning. Tried to drop them off at SPCA and they wanted $10/kitten AND they were going to make us leave our $30 carrier. Animal Control wants $30/animal. That's just nutz. So, we brought them home and have them on our porch. They are VERY friendly/docile. I'm afraid they're going to die of heat exhaustion even though we have food/water out for them.

We already have 2 inside cats and our apartment complex fines us $150 for feeding/caring for strays.

If you'd like to adopt one please call at 832-746-6753 .

Update. Just one more kitty to get rid of.

ok, one last kitty to get rid of. All the rest have homes.

Right after a flea bath.

Too bad you aren't giving away free 1911's -
they'd go very fast. :-)

They are making the public pay for the privilege of trying to save a stray cat? Are they presuming that only the folks that failed to spay or neuter their animals are the ones bringing these little ones in?

WOW...that's crazy (about the SPCA)...

I guess I would've said "hey, .22 bullets are cheap...and humane..." :biggrinjester: (I only mean that in the "hey, it's time to put them down sort of way).

Thank you for taking them in. Sorry the SPCA is... words fail me.

I'm sending you a list of animal adoption outfits via PM to keep from cluttering here. It is old (2005) but you may find a lead.

If you want the Kitten Glop recipe tell me and I'll send it.

Hang in there.

Regards,
Andrew

sounds good: What is kitten glop?

Update. The black and the calico (one in the sink on the right) are both gone (someone here on the forums adopted them!) . the orange and the sandy one are both still needing homes.

Please do everything you can to not take them to the shelter. Most people don't know this, but animals voluntarily surrendered to shelters are almost always put down the same night they're brought in, unless it's a no-kill shelter. No-kill shelters are pretty much filled to bursting right now, though.

I do volunteer work for a Great Pyreneese rescue and we get notices daily of Pyrs that are going to be put down unless we can pull them from the shelters. I'd say 12-25 Pyrs are put down in the DFW area every day because we can't find enough homes or fosters for them. I have no idea what the numbers are for other breeds that are more popular (and therefore more numerous in the shelters), but I'm sure it's much higher, and it breaks my heart.

I'll jump on my soapbox here and tell everyone - if you want a new pet, PLEASE go to a shelter or rescue and save a life.

Great! Two placed, two to go!

Kitten Glop is made of goat's milk, sour cream, egg yokes, canned pumpkin, taurine, and other stuff - it is much better than the commercial kitten milk replacer and cheaper too, in the long run.

Good luck placing the other two!

Andrew

I had a kitten show up 16 years ago and she's still driving me nuts :biggrinjester:

Oh, LedJedi... Do you know how weird it is to call someone's phone and say "Hi, is LedJedi home?"
