Wrecked

On the drive home tonight, I got hit from behind. It's just a rural highway... one lane each direction. A vehicle in front of me slowed to wait for traffic so they could turn left into a driveway. The two vehicles behind them slowed, and so did I. Unfortunately, the vehicle behind me didn't. They knocked me into the SUV in front of me, and then I rolled into the ditch.
DPS and a Deputy arrived on scene. A trooper came up to me and I gave him my DL, CHL, and insurance card. He glanced at the CHL, and told me he didn't need to see it.
I hope she has good insurance... she's going to need it to fix all 4 vehicles.

Sorry to see this. Hope that you're okay. Glad that your experience with the trooper was a positive one.

Unfortunately most people have state minimum coverage (reason against minimum coverages) that will barely pay for 1 totalled new vehicle (25k per incident) much less 4.

The other two vehicles were able to drive away, but yeah... I don't think the other two are getting fixed. Now, I just have to decide what to replace it with. I hope the insurance isn't going to be a hassle.

Looks like the road is all bent up too.
Pleased to hear you feel fine physically and praying it stays that way.

A cheap car and a lot of guns.
Glad you're not banged up and that the trooper was a decent guy.

KC5AV:
Wow, it looks like she was going at a high rate
of inattentive speed to do that much damage to your
Silverado. It takes a lot of energy to bend a Silverado's
mass.
I'm glad you are OK and shopping for a new vehicle is
your biggest concern.
Noticed your vanity plate matches your screen name.
Good for you.

I hope you weren't talking to someone when the impact happened. Years ago, I hit a deer while talking to some guys at 5am, they said I unkeyed just before I said ****

Years ago I was testing a new phone patch arrangement and was talking to "Larry" on the radio when he was hit by a deer.
Yes, "hit by a deer" - Larry was riding a bicycle and the deer came charging up and nailed him. He didn't unkey before he said anything, his handlebar mounted push button jammed down and we heard everything he said. And got it all on tape too.
The licensee of our repeater had grown tired of repeated violations of rules and decided to tape all further conversations on the autopatch. The first effort suffered from two problems, poor audio quality and not enough tape. My arrangement improved audio quality (one of the benefits of being a phone man) and I had cut the tape speed for longer recording. It was this arrangement I was testing when Larry was hit by the deer.
BTW, Larry had to be one of the unluckiest hams I ever knew. In the course of three or four years he was: Hit by a deer while on the radio; hit by another car (while in his car) while on the radio; and hit a turkey while on the radio (with his car.)
