We are going to Shreveport over the 4th of July weekend. I know Texas has reciprocity with Lousiana, but I can find nothing as whether it legal to carry in the casinos?
Anyone know?

If they have any type of "No Guns" sign, it's not legal to carry. Any and all "No Guns" type signs are valid in Louisiana.
As for casinos specifically by statute, I don't know, but I do have a fraternity brother in the Louisiana State Police who is in charge of all casinos in the state. I can run this by him and see what he says.

Didn't look up statute yet, but a quick check on
http://www.handgunlaw.us" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; indicates that carry is illegal in restaurants or any other establishments that serve alcohol.
While I didn't see anything specific to casinos, I would guess that the liquor licenses they are all issued would constitute a statutory ban.
I'll see if I can find any statute in a little bit, or maybe someone more familiar with the situation will chime in shortly.

I had a LA CHL for 4 yrs. If your talking about the playing area that is a def NO. Like the post above me anywhere they serve ETOH and no food at all then it's a negative ghostrider. Now if your talking about a resturant that serves more than 50%(not sure of % but has to be higher than ETOH sales) food then it's okay. It's been a couple of yrs since my LA refresher so take what I say for what it's worth

I have been reading this stuff too long. I thought this would be about a carry technique like Mexican carry.
"Budreaux, I got this great new way to carry my hoglaig!"

Took a while to figure out you were talking about ethanol.

Why, any fool knows that ETOH means "Estimated Time of Hammered."

Casino carry is a no go anywhere in LA.
I called when one of my buddies from work and I were going. Our Peace Officer status allowed us to but CHLs cannot, per local PD there - I called.

Another good reason to skip the casinos!

The wife drug me out there about a year ago. I called ahead to the Horseshoe because that was where we were staying. They told me my CHL was welcome at the hotel but not the Casino. I was instructed to just tell them at the desk I needed to check a gun and they would get me a lock box as they don't have any safes in the rooms. I thought ok no problem, till we got there. The young lady about freaked out and very loudly asked "what do I do I have a guy that needs to check a Gun." They had to call security and they had to call surveillance to watch the whole transaction. While waiting occasionally some would ask if I needed help and she would again loudly say "no he has to check in a gun and were waiting for surveillance."
The security guy was cool about it. We go into a small room after I filled out my lock box card. I pull out my defender and extra clip lock it in the box and proceed to go make my wife happy.
I would recommend just asking for a lock box and don't mention what you are locking up until you get into the lock box room then let them know what you are locking up. It might be a little more discrete that way.

"Here's an idea.

and we'll call it a day?" - from National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation.
Stay home and put money in the stock market online. The house will still win, but you can carry all you want.

We have returned from our Shreveport trip no worse for wear. We had a great time and stayed within our budget for gambling. Of course we didn't win anything big, but we don't have to take out a second mortgage to cover our losses either. I don't think that will happen with highroller like us since we play the penny and nickel slots. We did not stay at one of the hotel/casinos so we left our weapons in the car in lock boxes we we went in the casinos.
We went to 3 different places Diamond Jacks, Boomtown, and Horseshoe. At the entrance to the casino at 2 out 3 places it was posted very plainly "NO Weapons Allowed, Violators will be Prosecuted". The 3rd, Horseshoe we saw nothing. So that concludes my report on Shreveport & CC of weapons.
