Do any of you know if this is properly posted? We are going to the Doobie Brothers and Chicago concert tonight and wanted to know.

Weapons are not permitted for obvious safety reasons. This policy includes pocketknives and small chains. You may not consider these items threatening, but they can cause harm. While it is legal, with a permit, to carry a concealed handgun in Texas, we do not allow guns in our facility. We are allowed to enforce this since we are privately owned.

But are they posted 30.06 and do they search/have metal detectors?

If they are not posted, obviously you can carry. The issue I see (and I have not been there in a few years) is if you have to go through a metal detector or not.
If you do, then they find it, they can give you verbal notice of no carrying (as long as I understand the law right, if not, someone will correct me)

If they do not scan you, and don't see it (concealed means concealed), and if they are not properly posted, then you can carry.

the website notice is not legal - as it is not notice told to you directly, and even if the law said it could be considered , can they prove YOU saw it?

Do a search for "The woodlands" under city on http://texas3006.com/view.php#anchor2 You should find 2 entries for the pavillion.

When I was there in 2007 they had valid signs, told you no weapons at the gate AND made you lift up your shirt and empty your pockets. As someone commented at the time, it was more like entering a prison... I saw the 30.06 signs from a distance and left my carry piece locked in the car.

Since I've been there, folks have posted that the spanish signs are missing. Don't know if the search is still so invasive.

I had the same experience as the last poster when I went to the Pavilion last time. I had to remove my hat, empty my pockets, lift shirt up enough to expose my belt, and give a 360 spin. Now I think it depends on who is playing and the type of crowd they are expecting. This was for a rock concert with a more rowdy crowd. I have been there for Christian rock concerts and this practice was not performed. I am not sure where the Doobie Brothers would fall in thier list of crowd types. As far as signs the last time I went I was not chl so I did not pay attention for any signs.

It will take some more research, but it MAY not be legal for them to ban guns at the pavilion. A check of the Montgomery CAD records clearly shows that the Center for the Performing Arts of the Woodlands only owns improvements and inventory at the pavilion location (2005 Lake Robbins Dr.). I cannot track down the ownership of the land as easily since it is part of a larger parcel and I would need the correct address of hte parcel to find this out. The land appears to be part of a park and could be owned by the Woodlands Township or Montgomery County, in which case guns cannot be banned. But it could still be owned by the development company, in which case it is all private property. I am not sure if the pavilion can ban without th epermission of the development company if thta is who owns the land, though that may be a moot question (they might have permission).

Just thought I would remind everyone that one of the quicker ways to determine if the property can be legally banned is to check the appraisal district (CAD) records for the property ownership. It can be interesting.

I used to work at the pavilion, weekend job while in high school. Anyway, the place generates close to, if not 51% of revenue off of alcohol (pallets of beer are sold on a concert-to-concert basis), not sure how the TABC license would work for that but the company I worked for (Aramark) has a beer/wine license for the entire area minus the VIP club, which has its own.

Aramark and TCWMP are different entities but the pavilion contracts Aramark for their concessions and beer sales.

Final verdict (from me, at least): they won't let you in with a gun and there are at least 25 officers on site any given concert who will be glad to escort a belligerent patron to a county jail. Whether or not it's legal you'll have to jump a LOT of hoops to get it to work, and I promise it wouldn't be worth it.

They say that they are privately owned on the website and if that turns out to be true they are properly posted 30.06

At the gates there are a set of rules and under Felony Notice you will see the 30.06 wording in both English and Spanish.

I was there last night, and it appeared in English and Spanish. Only question is whether the text was an inch or not.

Looking at the letter size compared to the chain link fence behind tells me the letters are pretty darn close to 1"; close enough I wouldn't want to challenge it in court.

I think it depends on who is perfoming as to how good of a search they do. I went to a Hank Williams Jr. concert there a few years ago and they not only made me lift my hat but also patted down my boots; have been there other times and not been searched. With or without a proper 30.06 sign I don't think I would want to risk getting caught carrying.
