Interesting article, and they are certainly allowed to have their own opinion, but I'm wondering if they polled their membership before issuing this blanket statement?
Also, there's a poll. Go vote.

Simple enough...find another church. It wouldn't impact me because I would burst into flames if I stepped foot in one.

Fortunately, the authority of the bishop only extends to the boundaries of the diocese (not the state, and it's unclear to me if all LA bishops agreed to this). This would really put a lot of Catholic CHL holders in a quandary: There are legitimate excuses for missing Mass (traveling, for instance), so I wonder if "attending Mass while armed would be illegal" would be another. Should be interesting to see how this pans out in a state where Roman Catholicism claims the largest number of residents who are religious.

The law is different for Louisanna and not just any CHL'er can carry in church. The new law just went into effect in August and the pastor or head of the religious institution must announce verbally or in weekly newsletters or bulletins that there will be individuals armed on the property as members of the security force. Those chosen for the 'security force' have to undergo eight hours of tactical training each year on top of having their CHL.

Funny how the facts can put a half-baked "news story" into a completely different light.

{SIGH} Life is all about choices. This is just one more choice that some in Louisiana will get to ponder.
Texas, warts and all, is a pretty good place to live.

Good thing about being Catholic though is you can do 'stuff' and go to confession...
"I'm sorry Father, I carried my 1911 to morning mass..."
"My son, say three Hail Mary's, expend 150 rounds at the range and sit a little closer to the front next Sunday."

although funny,
as a Catholic its not that funny, holster and trigger control exercises followed by 500 rounds would be more likely,
that being said...at our parish the priest has run the matter up the flagpole to the head man in tyler and we have the blessing to carry at mass.
Us out in the woods redneck Catholics love our firearms and at least one of us is carrying, .

In Texas, churches and synagogues are prohibited places if they correctly post a 30.06 sign - I've never seen a 30.06 at any church - I hope I never do.

In Arkansas they are prohibited no matter what. In Louisiana they are prohibited unless you have permission. Most states are more like AR or LA than TX. It's a blatant violation of the 1st amendment. I think the Texas ban on guns in schools, at least in private schools, is just as wrong. Ban on guns in bars, same thing. Private property? School/church/bar gets to decide if they wants guns or or not. State has no business outlawing guns on private property.

Several "Old Baptist Churches" in Texas ... if you can't afford Ammo, inform a Deacon, we''ll chat with you a minute, and we'll see what we can do to help you out.... how's your food and medical supplies situation? Need anything else?
All the "johnny-come-lately" people/groups/organizations (like the governments which "we" created) can think they have rights to regulate every imaginable conduct, but some here from before those got here disagree.
I won't comment on what Pastors, Deacons and people in the congregation do in other States where the government
"thinks" they have a right to control what people wear to church (regulating what people wear on private property).... we were here before they were and IIRC,
"we" (my relatives who were around and helped write documents recently read in Washington, and those written prior to that constitution. Articles of Confederation .... Mayflower Compact and another document preceding that) gave the "government" certain rights (they didn't give us rights) and those "we" didn't give, "we" reserved to the States and the "people".
I just don't recall giving government a right to regulate what I wear on (my or the churches') private property, as long as it's "decent" and everything that needs to be covered is covered. I haven't found an Old Baptist Pastor, Deacon etc who disagree yet, and discussed it with many.
Tenth Amendment The powers not
delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it
(it =the Constitution) to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Well time will tell, the more you advertise that no one has a gun in a particular place, the more likely that will be the place for the crazy to go.
Funny how criminals don't follow the law, but honest people do.
Yet we pass more laws to prevent crime.

Fellowship Church in Grapevine is 30.06 posted from what I recall, one of the reasons I'll never step foot in there again.
