AR-15 Question

Ok, new to the board and have been following the AR-15 threads and have decided on this configuration.

http://www.spikestactical.com/z/index.p ... ucts_id=59" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Is this a ok choice for plinking paper/self defense? Too many choices and I get confused. Is there anything not included that I must have? Looks to me like basic sights are included. Is the 5.56 nato ammo plentiful, reasonbly priced and easy to get? Some suggestions for purchasing plinking ammo and self defense ammo would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Pops

Looks like you'll be good to go except for sighting in at the range. I've found that 5.56 NATO is generally more expensive than .223 Remington. I just use Monarch from Academy at $0.45 per round, but if you want cheap get a .22 conversion kit.

Thanks Karl & TAM. Just wanted some reassurance before I layed the money down.

One of the beautiful things about a plain flat topped M4 is that if you decide to trick it out, it can be done fairly reasonably. My carbine started off looking exactly like yours (minus the carry handle). Here's what it looks like today:
