Late-night gunbattles with gangs who forced citizens from their cars and used the vehicles to block streets paralyzed a border city, sound of gunfire alarmed Texans on the U.S. side of the Rio Grande.
The Nuevo Laredo city government posted messages on Facebook warning citizens to stay indoors as the battles erupted at several intersections in the city across from Laredo, Texas.

As a likely descendant of Vikings, I resent the official's comment.

Yep, while I usually enjoy each new one when it first comes out, I get tired of it before its run ends.

Vikings. Right. Because historically, Mexican banditos never crossed the border, and none of this current drug violence comes North of the border, shooting at ranchers and US law enforcement

It's been coming for some time. Can't say this should really surprise many people.
The question is, how do we react to it? I say fast and brutal.
This looks to me like they're testing us, to see what they can get away with. If allowed to retreat peacefully back across the border, it will just encourage them to come back, in more populated areas.
Troops, tanks, helicopters, unleash hell on them!

Careful, remember what happened to two Border Patrol officers that didn’t allow a drug runner to “retreat peacefully back across the border”.

Compare that to the response from a US President who wasn't a gelding, and ordered "Blackjack" Pershing to go after "Pancho" Villa.

Funny how the Democrat led Feds were so aggressive against young familiy in Ruby Ridge and a church leader in Waco who had a shotgun 1/2 inch too short. but when it comes too foriegn Armys invading our nation, we do nothing. When our agents get attacked and defend themselves, it us that apologizes. History has shown us over and over again that until the enemy understands that we are capable and willing to destroy the enemy we will have no peace.
Unfortunatly Niether Obama nor Perry have the will to do whats required. I suppose the local Sheriff's department could deputize some local folks, (I think this is still legal) but the current ATFE rules and regulation would leave them woefully under gunned. Our citizens deserve to be as well armed as the badguys.
