Somewhere in Hawaii, a 41-year-old man reportedly allegedly kicked in the door of his elderly parents' bedroom and demanded money and drugs. His father shot him. He is charged with robbery.

Hawaii has somehow evaded its well-deserved reputation as a state where armed self defense is officially frowned upon. It is well down in the bottom ten.

Interesting that the father was blind, but was able to defend himself against a man with a knife. because he had a handgun.

A person who is legally blind probably cannot read or safely drive a car, but he can have peripheral vision or some degree of light-dark discrimination.

There is a lot of this "going around" as people live longer and suffer from macular degeneration, cataracts, and blindness related to diabetes.
