OK, well I can now answer my own question. Took the family to the creamery tour today. No posting. Carry away.
Just be sure you have a notch to spare on your gun belt. Ate two free cups worth of ice cream after the tour - cookies and cream, and then random spoonfuls of blackberry cobbler, strawberry, peaches n cream, rainbow sherbert, and chocolate ....

Anybody who would shoot up a Texas treasure such as the Blue Bell Creamery doesn't deserve a trial. Get a rope!

The Blue Bell tour is on my list of things to do. Other than the ice cream at the end, what did you see that was interesting?

It's one of the very few places

where cows stand around grinning.

It's a decent tour. If you've ever seen any food production assembly line it's sorta the same thing. But is cool to see all those gold-rimmed lids spinning in the giant sorting machine before they drop down the workers who slap them onto the half-gallon tubs of ice cream. Also some interesting tidbits about how the tubs are placed upside down before entering the blast freezer so the ice cream freezes into the lid, locking in freshness like a vacuum seal. This is why it's some times a pain to remove the lid from a fresh half-gallon.
A few other intersting tidbits. The tour doesn't take too long, but the lines form outside and they take one group at a time. After we got "tickets" we ended up waiting about 45 minutes outside (nice shaded waiting area, not too bad).
The tour itself isn't all that extraordinary, but the end is well worth it

The tour isn't world class entertainment, but it's interesting, especially with kids who are the curious type.

I'm a kid at heart and I've always been the curious type, so I bet I'd be very entertained.
Besides, Blue Bell is the best ice cream on the planet!

Seriously, Brenham is the hub for a great wildflower tour in the spring. While you're looking at the flowers, you might oughta' take a break and eat the world's best ice cream.
Drive safely.

Blue Bell still has a live operator that answers the phone. Look up there 1-800 # and on April Fools day write up a memo for your co-work to call a potential customer named L.C. Da Cou. It works everytime!
