I wasnt sure where this topic would fit since i feel it pertains to keeping safe out there and knowing your surroundings which i have seen on one shape or another on this forum area. I just wanted to share the article that i found in my men's health magazine. The author discusses how he is always thinking about worst case scenarios, keeping safe, and gives some real usable tips to be safe out there. :tiphat:

All that advice, and not a word about CHL. The only mention about anyone being armed was the bad guys might be armed. God forbid anyone would want to level that playing field.

Remindes me of what I learned about 20 years ago when I was getting a motorcycle license.

S. P. I. D. E.

Scan - be vigilant and constantly scan your surroundings.
Predict - if you see something out of sync predict what is about tohappen (its easier than you think once you recognise somethign out of place)
Identify - all options of your escape/response to your prediction
Decide - Make your decision what option you are going to use.
Execute - When the time comes execute your chosen option.

I know, kind of corny. But its stuck with me for over 20 years and has kept me from getting into several situations that would not have been good.

Be safe everyone!

It is good advice even though the writer didn't mention CHL. Basically he just took what we have know for years and left out the most important part. I can give him some slack on this because CC isn't an option for a small segment of the population. I also believe this line of thinking will lead people to CC. I don't think most people consider CC because they don't pay attention to anything until they are confronted with a crime. I believe if this article gets only a few men to seek more info that can be eventually lead to him or those he know to get licensed.

The writer failed to give the readers the most effective solution for a real problem but at least he made them aware that they should pull their heads out of the sand and start covering their backsides for the sake of their loved ones if not themselves.

It would be like writing an article about losing weight and giving advice on diet, and not a word about exercise.
