Covering the gap

I got a letter from DPS yesterday. My fingerprints were rejected. About 10 days ago I got 2 fingers in a fan motor. They are not going to be permanently injured by any stretch but are going to be a WHILE completely healing.
Is there a non-resident permit I can get by mail in time to cover a probable gap now? Expires Jan.14, '07.
One that does not cost big $$$$$$$?
My 1st 2 thoughts were Florida. $125.00 really too much.
New Hampshire? From the R. map I am not sure Texas honors there non-resident permit.
help, Help, HELP.
Thank you in advance.

Jerry,

You might consider Utah. When I got mine last year, I attached a copy of my current Texas CHL and received the license in about two weeks with a letter saying it would be revoked if anything disqualifing popped up on the background check. I'm guessing they took the current Texas CHL as evidence of good standing and sent the license out in advance of the background check.

Howver, I do recall, I think, that they required a finger print card, so you might have the same problem. Also, I do not know the laws on a Texas resident carrying under an out of state non-resident permit, but it seems like it has been stated on this forum that it is ok.

Finger Prints
we don't need no stinking finger prints

You might try giving the DPS a call.
or
Get your prints taken by the DPS
or
Get electronic prints.
