Dog passed on.

With tears in my eyes and a heavy heart.
My yellow lab "Sandy" passed on to Fiddlers Green at 12:28 AM 8/3/10 she was 14. In her youth she was a handful she could climb any fence you put up and what she didn't climb she dug under. During Hurricane Rita we were evacuated to Austin the dogs were staying at one house and we were staying at my daughter's house. One day Sandy got out of the yard and was picked up by Austin Animal Control. We got her back the same day thanks to having a note on her collar with her name, our contact info and the address where she was staying. We always joked that she couldn't go back to Austin because she had a record there. Rest In Peace good and faithful companion.

Sorry to hear about your faithful companion. People who do not have pets cannot understand the attachment you have with them.

I am sorry to hear that.
Last year we had to put our Lemon Beagle down after 11 years...it is not easy to lose a pet.

I feel for you MoJo. Loosing a family pet that's been with you for years is like loosing a family member. You actually go through a grieving period.
When we had to put Duffy down(Scotch terrier), we were beside ourselves with grief. Neither wife or I could go to work that day or the next.

I'm sorry for your loss. Reminds me of our old Yellow lab "Skipper", they're off in a better place...

Mojo, I am very sorry for your loss, but I know that your girl is up there playing my boy Marty, who passed on Oct 2008.
Edited to add: that is the Tattoo in my avatar

Deepest sympathy MoJo. They really become a part of the immediate family and it is just like losing one of them when they pass. You will always miss him, but time will heal the heavy heart and you will be left with the wonderful memories your times together.

You have my heartfelt sympathy. I've been there too, and the experience isn't just like losing a family member, it
is losing a family member.

Darn it y'all have me tearing up. I'm sorry for your loss too Mojo, we had a yellow lab/rotty mix who has been in dog heaven for about a year now. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. I can tell you took great care of Sandy and I'm sure she knew it. When Rita came through every neighbor on our block evacuated but left their dogs behind. It's takes a special kind of person to lug a dog all the way to Austin and back and I'm sure she appreciated it. Hang in there.
Rip Sandy.

Mojo, we know your pain and our hearts go out to you.
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

MoJo, I'm very sorry for the loss of your beloved Sandy.
There's a very special bond that we build with our pets and they really are members of our families.
I keep a framed photo of my dog Angel on the kitchen window sill.
She passed on about six years ago but the photo helps to keep her memory alive.

My condolances Mojo, our dogs are truly part of us, Sandy will always be in your heart and waiting for your reunion. When my 14 year old yellow lab (Salty) passed on I shed many more tears than I have for relatives who left us. We miss our pets every day, just remember that we truly did not own them, we had the privalige of being their caretakers. The joy that they brought us cannot be purchased, we do tend to forget the fits they caused us, still remember coming home to find the fabric on the back of the couch and recliner torn to pieces. They are our family, and mans best friend for a reason......
