It's all about re-election. Neither the current POTUS nor the past 3-4 POTUS' have/had the courage to risk alienating the latino vote. This fear also extends to a couple or three border state goobernators.

I seem to remember a recent election when the intent was to fire the bums who were in office who had created the financial crises and bring "change"

Don't get me wrong - I'm 100% the idea of sweeping all of the current mentality out of office, regardless of their "current" political party. The problem is in getting replacements who aren't as bad as or worse than the old ones. As we've seen in all too often, the party affiliation seems to have little or nothing to do with how the laws and votes are handled.

IMHO, even if we got a 100% new Governors, Congressmen and Senators, this problem is far from fixed. Remember: it was a judge and it will the a Federal Court of Appeals that is behind perpetuating the problem in AZ. The elected representatives did everything that they could to address the issue.
