Pepper Spray in a Hot Car

There was a recent post about whether it was dangerous to store a gun in a hot car. What about the possible safety hazards with storing pepper spray in a hot car? It wouldn't "explode", but it seems that a pressurized cannister could spring a leak. The clean up would be a mess. For the next month or two you'd be crying everytime you drove your car.

I have kept one in my car for years and had no problem.

They normally are carried on one's person and have to be designed for a humid 100°F environment. The mission profile for the interior of a motor vehicle is 140°F.

Those things have to have a significant safety margin. It's no different from a can of spray paint or insecticide. The manufacturers don't want to be sued because of leaks.
