The intruder who punched out a Chandler man while stealing beer at a keg party picked the wrong victim. The man, who had been attempting to defend his wife during the beer theft, had a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Fearing for his life and under attack, he pulled out a gun and fatally shot two men believed by police to be gang members early Sunday morning.

"People in Arizona carry guns," said Detective David Ramer, a Chandler police spokesman. "You better be careful about who you are picking on."

Seems an Old Town Spring business man, Clarence Williams, thinks the same and is letting people know about it!

That is not correct. AZ residents may carry non-concealed without a permit. Concealed carry requires a permit just like TX. It was interesting, though, when I visited my father-in-law, and we were both carrying (he concealed, me unconcealed). We were stopped by the Border Patrol in a wilderness area, and I was getting quite nervous. Not a problem...

Arizona now allows for open carry or concealed carry without a permit as of July 29, 2010.

Any thoughts on the fact that the guy was at a keg party and carrying a gun?

If there's no prohibition for off duty cops carrying at bars or other places alcohol is consumed, there's no moral or constitutional reason to prohibit taxpayers from carrying there.

Yeah. Makes me think we ought to be able to legally carry in a 51% location in Texas.

Any of the 51% places I have been nobody needs to be carrying. Anybody been to Rockport, Texas. Lots of 51% places, no thanks for legal or illegal carry in those places. Sugar Shack, Alice Fayes, Moon Dogs, Paradise Key, just to name a few. No thanks I dont trust even the legal carries in those places. They are strictly designed for alcohol consumption with the exception of PK until about 9 oclock.

Nope. Arizona passed "Constitutional Carry" a couple of months ago. You do not need any kind of permit to carry a pistol, concealed or not. Anywhere in Arizona.

They do, however, continue to offer a concealed carry permit for those that want one for the purposes of reciprocity with other states.
