McDonald's Endorses Employee Getting Shot!

I invite you to watch this shocking video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwhw-Inji0k

When realizing that you'd like to mail some money to help him out, I suggest that you do NOT mail money to the address on "his" Facebook page. That facebook page smells fishy, as in I suspect it is made by an enterprising fraudster. Instead, please mail the money to his lawyer and ask that he forward it to the young man who was shot. One of the news reports listed his lawyer's name. I then googled for the lawyer's address and this is it:

Philip M Wilson, Attorney At Law
Address:
124 W Capitol Ave # 1630
Little Rock, AR 72201

God bless,
:tiphat:

P.S. I used to donate to one of those "Christian Childrens' Fund" until I found out that most Charity Organizations kept most (average of 80%) of what you donated as "administrative costs". That's when I decided to budget at least $1 per day ($30 per month) to various people suffering injustice in this world that I've heard about in the news. With the advent of Google, there's no reason to pay a charity organization to be the "middleman" in such matters. I invite you to do the same and donate to various people you think should be helped. You may disagree with me and believe that McDonald's is not at fault. That's fine, but I do urge you to donate periodically to various people in order to fight injustice. Whether it is this kid or someone else, I invite you to lend your fellow man a helping hand. God bless.

It seems to me that he acted heroically, but outside the duties and obligations of his employment and at his own behest and not at the prompting or direction of his supervisors. If there's a company policy that says not to interfere in altercations but to call 911 and he decided to violate that policy then the company can deny his claim that it was a work-related injury. He is trying to get McDonald's to pay for his medical bills saying the injury happened because of his work, but was rushing at a man who struck a woman, tackling him, and physically removing him from the restaurant within the scope of his responsibilities? I doubt it.

It seems to me that the person responsible for his medical bills is the shooter.

FYI: You can check the administrative cost of most charities at one of several organizations including:
http://www.charitynavigator.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.bbb.org/us/charity/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Anything more than 15-20% should probably be viewed as suspicious. Also, never ever give to an organization when cold calling to your home. Even if the charity they are soliciting funds for is very frugal administratively, usually you are being called by a separate 'for-profit' entity that will only donate a fraction of the pledged funds to the charitable organization.

Regarding Christian Poverty organizations, Compassion International is one that I believe operates above the board.

:iagree:

The only problem is the shooter will be in prison with no funds coming in. A 911 call was the smart thing to do. Then the shooter could have shot it out with the LEO's.

This is old news as it happened over a year and a half ago (February 2009.) The McDonald's owners stated he was planning to cover all of Haskett's expense, so any other donations being requested now are probably fraudulent. There is a legitimate fund for donations listed here http://www.fox16.com/news/local/story/M ... px?rss=315" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I would contact that address and see if the fund is still in place before sending any kind of donation.

Your title is misleading..... "McDonald's Endorses Employee Getting Shot!"

McDonalds does NOT endorse the employee getting shot. That's a ridiculous statement. For one thing, McDonalds doesn't even own that business; the franchisee owns it. So why should McDonalds corporation even be involved, except that they have deep pockets and maybe someone is going after them in a frivolous lawsuit? For another thing, McDonalds has issued no statement saying that the young man deserved to be shot. That would constitute an endorsement, and no such statement has been issued. So the thread title is an untrue statement.

That the young man came to the woman's rescue is laudable, but he did so outside of franchise policy as written by McDonalds Corporation, and thus, McDonalds Corporation is not obligated to cover his injuries. And as Keith B said, the franchise owner already offered to pay for the employee's medical expenses. So trying to drag the corporation into paying out additional money is nothing more than a shakedown exercise, and a cheesy one at that.

TAM, I didn't know that this happened a year ago (doh!) and, yes, the title is kinda "misleading", but everything I wrote in my post is true. I always take a bit of creative license with my titles to get more McReaders. That's what they taught us to do in Business School. Thanks for pointing out the age of the article to me. I was just about to mail off my donation when you pointed that out to me. I guess I'm gonna donate elsewhere....

Some donations I've made in the past;
1. A Papa Johns driver shot a robber and ended up being fired. I spotted him some money so he could pay his bills until he found another job. I had to do some major Googling and calling in order to find out where the dude lived. I also mailed letters to some of the houses in the area and told them not to buy the Pizza.
2. My annual NRA donation.
3. My political candidate donations.
4. Some guy called Ung shot some crazy steroid freak who attacked him and ended up in jail with a mountain of legal bills. I helped him out a little.
5. Some small rural school had some students who couldn't afford school supplies. I bought some school supplies.

You might be surprised to find that the world would be a better place if we just helped each other out. When you see some injustice in the news, just remember that because of Google, you can easily find out where they live and mail them a check or something. :tiphat:

P.S. My personal theory on why we have an increasing tide of Socialism in Amerika, is that people don't help each other anymore. 200 years ago, if you needed a house, you'd hold a "house bee" and all your neighbors would help you build a simple one room farmhouse. Today, people let their fellow man go homeless and do not help. That's why we have taxes and public housing. Socialism has replaced people helping each other. 200 years ago, when your parents aged, you took care of them. Today, people don't care for their parents anymore. That's why we have social security taxes and medicare. They let social security pay for a crummy nursing home and just dump their parents off. The government's socialist programs have replaced decency and humanity. I invite y'all to fight socialism by helping your fellow man. Go bless. :patriot:

ok, someone had to do it.
as it seems there will be no new devolopments with this story.....
What if time...
You see the whole thing unfold.....smack down, tussle, bang-bang.
Assuming the BG doesn't beat feet what do you do?(beside promptly call 911)
GO!!!

Also, note for future reference...the video said he was shot several times and still was able to walk back inside before falling out. If you're in a bad situation don't give up the fight untill the fight is over. Let down your guard and the BG may get the upper hand on you in no time and the end result could be very detrimental to your health.
