I guess I should have looked real close at the ebay auction. I thought the holster was an MTAC, but it looks like I bought myself a Spartan. No worries, 38$ shipped was still worth it.

So after looking at the work Warhammer is doing I figured I could probably line this one myself. The local Tandy Leather has deerskin, which I think would feel awesome. Any thoughts though? Should I just line it or should I add a little padding too? I'm tall and well built, so I can't carry at 3, but rather 4:30/5 to keep their from being a noticable side buldge. Padding could make it worse.

I sew a bunch of kevlar/balistic/cordura for backpacking equipment. Thinking some leather might not be that bad.

What's your intended purpose for the lining? I have a Minotaur Spartan and my only issue is the takedown lever gouged the leather, because the leather is/was flat rather than wetformed to the handgun. However, I understand this is typical of the Leather/Kydex hybrid holsters.

The hardware is not nearly as smooth as I would like and I can see it causing issues with extended wear. The two retension screws on the holster are so tight they extend past the T-nuts.

I was thinking I might just glue a little deerskin on. Or Moleskin. quick and easy.

I think you would be happier with light tool (cowhide or horsehide) leather with the smooth side to your body. The ruffout side will most likely be irritating. Suedes are soft, but warm and absorb sweat and stay damp longer.

Maybe a 2/3 oz or 3/4 oz tool leather glued with one of the leather adhesives. Then stitch the outside edge so that it doesn't separate. If you dampen the adhered piece while stitching the threads will not stick out and irritate your skin, probably a 207 or less thread size. Then all you have to do is the edge finishing.

I wear a Crossbreed Supertuck with rough side toward bare skin (no undershirt) nearly every day. And I'm charitably called a "big ol boy". I have no discomfort or other problems with this set up. Should be similar to your CT Spartan (though the screws shouldn't be sticking out beyond the T-nuts (perhaps a spacer of some kind to fix that?)

I picked up some deer leather from the local Tandy. They recommended it, said it would work well for extended wear against the body.

I glued it down then hand stitched it all the way around. Turned out pretty well. I've been wearing it a fair bit the last few days.

If I can just find a good position for the holster I'll be a little happier.
