I went American...

Having owned two Toyota Tundras over the past several years, I am a big fan! My wife even has a Toyota. But for some reason, I'd had the itch to trade up. I needed a four wheel drive and a bigger engine (gas was $4 a gallon when I got my last Tundra, so I went with a V6).

Anyways, I wound up going with a Ford! :patriot:

2008 (I let some other sucker take the initial depreciation) Ford F150 Super Crew 4x4 4.6 V8 in a dark blue color.

Super roomy, rides super smooth, and is powerful. I'm a convert!

I'm looking to get a grill guard and only know of one manufacturer. Ranch Hand. Does anyone know of anything else that is decent and reasonably priced?

PB congrats on the new truck. Be sure and get the model that bolts to the frame and not the bumper. On this model you pull the tow hooks and mount the guard in place of the hooks. This model is a lot stouter mount and protects you from animal strikes that would damage your front end or fenders with a bumper mount. I have hit 2 deer with this model and sustained no damage( 1 at 65 mph and 2nd at 45mph) while some company trucks with bumper mounts have incurred some grill, hood and fender damage with bumper mount.

I think there is a heavy duty model called Rough Country made by the same company and I use their grill guards and bumpers. They are well worth the money. My boss did not think he needed a grill guard and after 2 deer and $4100 in damage on 2 trucks now has one.

Love the Fords and I run the V-10, it is a great engine and I am sad that they are discontinuing it.

I don't know how much their pickup bumpers are, but these are the most popular aftermarket bumper/pushbar for semi trucks and these bumpers are tough.

I believe Warn has some grill guards available for that year/model. Kind of stout looking.

Ranch Hand is hands down the best you can get IMO. I've seen more than one hit deer at 70 mph, and even cars at 40 with VERY little to no damage to the truck. They bolt to the frame and are super strong.

I used to call my Ranch Hand front bumper my "front porch".

It's very handy when I'm wrenching under the hood!

Congrats on the new truck. Ranchhand is a great brand.

IIRC, you can get a "grille guard", which bolts onto the existing
Ford bumper and/or frame, but if you want to get the more
expensive setup you'll want the "bumper replacement" package.

With the bumper replacement package, the Ford bumper is removed
and replaced with an all-Ranchhand unit which is both bumper and grille
guard.

If you'd like a Warn winch or driving lights (the white ones) or fog lights
(the yellow ones), these can also be mounted. PIAA and Hella are 2 brands
of lights you may wish to look at.

There's a heavy duty bumper maker out of Australia known as "ARB", which
is the initials of its founder <Anthony Rodney Brown maybe??>. I don't know
if they have a model for yours.

Another heavy duty bumper is "Road Armor", IIRC. They make the most giant,
heavy duty bumpers I've ever seen.

Ranchhand also makes heavy duty rear bumpers, and you can get large headache
racks with tail/stop lights which can be seen from behind even if you are hauling
a lowish trailer, or have gear in the bed.

Happy shopping for your custom goodies.

I didn't know 'yotes could run that fast.

I like my little Ford Ranger... this'uns a 4x4 with a 4L V-6 in it. Not quite as economical gas-wise as the late lamented Li'l Red, but fun to drive and it gets the job done.
