Trouble with Supertuck

Although I still love this holster I'm having a bit of an issue. I like to wear it at about the 4 or 5 o'clock position. Problem is, when I sit down it hits the magazine release and my magazine comes loose. Has this happened to anyone else? What do you do?

I had that problem with a Kholster and a Glock extended Mag release ... I drilled a hole in the leather at the mag release button location so the leather didn't press the mag release button, no problem since.

Same Glock worked ok in my Comfort Carry by Rob Durham without the Mag releasing, without needing to drill a hole, except in it the laser kept turning itself on (internal guide rod laser, switch was the takedown lever, so I got a hair dryer and a metal spoon handle, heated the kydex and pushed out the area of the takedown lever on the kydex a little bit, no problem since.

I think the super tuck is a hair expensive, and it really annoyed me that they charged me 11 bucks to ship with the J clips, while the postage stamp showed a few bucks (profiting on shipping is a peeve of mine), but I find mind quite perfect.

If it is a Glock, that could fix the problem. Depending on how you draw the weapon, you could still eject your magazine accidentally (if this happens in a SD situation, there could be some really bad consequences). I had an extended mag release on my G19 that did the same thing. However, I filed the mag release at an angle, taking off a little at a time and then testing it for fit and function. The portion toward the grip is the same height as the stock release (this is the part that catches and releases the mag.), while the trigger side of the release is slightly higher than the stock mag release. This solved the problem for all of my holsters, and I can still release the magazine easier than the stock release without changing my grip. I carry with this everyday and have not had a problem since I filed the angle on the magazine release. If you don't want to file down the extended release, just go back to the stock one. Chances are you won't need to make a magazine change in a SD situation anyway, so the tenth of a second you loose won't matter too much after you put 15-16 rnds. into 'em.

If it's not a Glock style gun, things might get a little more complicated. Although, I haven't heard of too many other guns having this issue with a factory magazine release in a Crossbreed Holster. Please fill us in on the make and model you have.

It did that to me on my Sig SP2022. I ended up getting rid of the gun but I thought about cutting a hole in it where the mag release was. I have heard of others having this same problem too.

Had the same problem w a SuperTuck & M&P. Tried to wet the leather & form a depression over the mag release button, but couldn't get it deep/large enough. Sent it back to Crossbreed & they took care of it.

I've since made my own 'combat cut' (their term) on the leather backing, and I think I'll take a little more leather off and cut off the area that was covering the mag release entirely.

The nice thing about leather is that it trims and molds easily. I needed a temp holster for my Kimber 4" barrel ... dremmel tool to the rescue. I was even able to burnish the edges with my dremmel. Snip, snip, snip ...

It's a Taurus PT99 from the 80's. Was my Dad's gun, I have carried it since he passed.

Since the gun has some sentimental value, modifying it to fit the holster correctly, seems like a bad idea. That being the case, I would call Crossbreed Holsters and ask them if there is a way to fix your problem. They have great customer service IMHO, and will be glad to help in any way they can. They may have a suggestion for you that won't involve sending it back to them for adjustment.

I've not had the magazine release issue you described when using my ST holsters with a G32, Bersa .380, and G29. But I did have that issue with a PT-145 combinied with the ST and High Noon holsters. I think there can be conbination of mag release design, holster design, and body shape that will create this problem.
