Wife Unit decided she needed a little R&R, so we loaded up the Harley and headed to Llano.....she wanted a bottle of Llano wine.....

Four tanks of gas for the bike........$$$

Great room in the middle of a vineyard above a 5-star restaurant......$$$$$

Dinner at said restaurant.....$$$$$

452 miles on the bike and a wonderful weekend with the little bride.......PRICELESS!!!

(I'm glad she only wanted Llano wine and not Chicago pizza or Russian caviar...... )

We didn't even pick up a bottle of wine.....

Edit to add----Conceal Carried the entire trip. IWB crossdraw 9 o'clock. I admit the magazines weren't sitting too well in my back pockets, so after 180 miles or so I transferred them to the bag.......Ouch!

Did you bring me back a T-Shirt?

Sounds like a great weekend. Quality time with the wife, and the bike, what a combo. Good food, wine, romantic getaway, I'm envious to say the least.
I've been thinking of taking the wife on a bike trip to the hill country for a romantic weekend. I'm going to wait for the first cool/cold front to hit before we head that direction. That reminds me, I need to work on the bikes ignition system before we go. Oh well, one more thing to add to my never ending list.
Glad you got to spend some quality time, it's nice to get away every once in a while.

We really needed the quality time....been hectic as two cats in a sack around here for a while.....

Probably spent a little too much money, but since I can't take it with me when I die, spend it now......

We make it a point to support local businesses whenever we go out. No chain restaurants, no chain motels unless absolutely necessary. Stop at fruit stands and such.

Nice little romantic ride. In May we took a liitle bike trip up through Colorado and New Mexico (did you know its still cold in the mountains in May? LOL). Total of about 1900 miles in 5 days. It was a great trip. Looking to do a similar trip next May and either go up to Tenn., Ky, and Virginia or over to the Carolinas.

That is the best way to see the country. The wife loved it.

Was this your longest trip to date? How long have you been riding and what do you ride?

'04 Harley Road King....our longest ride to date was a run up 75, over the Talimena Scenic Drive and on into Hot Springs, Arkansas. Left on a Saturday morning, returned Sunday evening. Eleven hours on Saturday and nine on that Sunday.

A thousand years ago or so I rode for about 6 months while at Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida. I had been talking with the (current) wife about riding on and off for a couple of years, and then three years ago I woke up on my birthday, went out to the garage and there was a card there that said "Happy Birthday, dear, lets go buy a motorcycle..."

We had a trip planned early in the summer for Colorado and New Mexico, but things fell through. Perhaps next year. Elevation=cold, so be prepared...

Your upcoming trip sounds like a winner as well. Should be some pretty riding in that area. There is an auto/train in Florida that goes up to D.C. I believe. The wife and I chatted about riding to Florida, putting the bike on the train and riding that up, and coming back through the Appalachians.....

Need to get togeather for a ride sometime (armed of course).

You have to keep a close eye out especially dusk, dawn and night. Went to Corsicana this weekend and they were pretty thick on the 2 lane roads Hiway was okay though.

Didn't see a single deer. We were actually warned by a shopkeeper that they were "out there and moving around" on our way through the Goldthwaite area...but we were out there during the day and perhaps the deer were all hunkered down in the shade somewhere.....
