You know, I love me some accurate, synthetic stocked, fat barreled Remington 700 in .308 topped with a good scope. I own one, and shoot tiny groups with it regularly. But the more I read about the enthusiasm, the more I am inclined to spend the $99 for a Mosin Nagant, just to see what all the fuss is about. If I can't stand the thing, I can always turn around and sell it for $98.00.

"You can knock down everyone else's target just from the shock wave of your bullet going downrange." :thumbs2:

Gotta get me a Mosin Nagant...

Before I knew anything about guns (only 2 years ago) I had the opportunity to experience the mosin. At the time I thought, "what a piece of junk!" because it hurt to shoot, was impossible to cycle a round and, because of my inexperience, I couldn't hit a barn at 200 yards. Now it's on the list of cool guns I like that are actually worth buying.

You'll have to ask pbwalker how my Mosin is doing, since he bought it from me. It was fun -- for a while. But the (metaphorical) chiropractor was getting rich off me, the bolt was a bear to cycle after each shot, I got tired of the cleanup from the corrosive mil-surp ammo, and the fist-sized groups that were low and left at 50 yards just weren't getting better.

Of course, it was an 80 year old model, and I know mil-surp rifles are hit-and-miss on accuracy (even though the bore was quite bright), but I'll remember fondly the time I had a Mosin more than actually having a Mosin.

Of course, YMMV, diff'rent strokes, and all that.
