Fenix PD20 or NOVATAC Storm??

I've always been a flashlight guy and have recently decided I need one to carry everywhere-everyday and have decided on the following two options...

Fenix PD20
or
NOVATAC Storm

I like them both but have no experience with either and cant find them locally to get my hands on one.
The only problem I have with the storm is the clip. It only allows for bezel up(button down) carry. I want the button to be up when in my pocket.
The remedy for this with the NOVATACs is to pay about 40.00-50.00 more for an EDC model with a user installed clip.
The PD20 is already set up the way I want it as far as the clip is concerned.

Is there any difference in the strobe? Different pattern/frequency?
NOVATAC states on their site that their lights have a "Disorienting Strobe", but I'm willing to bet 200 lumens of strobe will be plenty disorienting on it's own.

Opinions?
Input?

Thanks guys and sorry if this has been covered but I didn't find this comparison through my search efforts.

My wife and kids can validate that the strobe is very disorientating. :evil2: But you are right, 200 lumens will get the job done also, especially when engaging an assailant who's pupils are wide open in low light conditions.

What's the different in strobe hertz for the different lights? I have a cheap gun show light that was advertised 100 lumens and now I'm hungry for more lumens for walking on campus at night.

my understanding of hertz is that it is the number of time the light strobes per second.
if im wrong someone correct me

Which one hertz the most? :biggrinjester:

What strobe frequency is the most effective at disorienting an attacker? I know about the Bucha effect but I can't find any peer reviewed studies on the effectiveness of different strobe frequencies. There are teasers about classified studies, but I can't get my hands on anything that meets scientific or medical research standards.

It depends on what kind of rental car you are driving. :biggrinjester:

A probably more appropriate term would be FPS (flashes per second) (Yeah, I know, same thing. LOL)

I don't remember what my T20 Tactical Olight is, but think it is around 15 FPS. Plenty fast for disorientation. Flash rates between 4 and 59 per second can trigger epileptic attacks, so anything in that range will be disorienting. Faster than that and it is not very distinguishable to the human eye, and slower and it is just a flashing light.

might be too late to help you out, but others can benifit from this. I have been a die hard Fenix fan for years and recently spread my wings and bought a EagleTac T20C2 MkII from http://www.illuminationgear.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and last night, placed an order for a second! They're rated at 380 lumens with strobe and other functions. I use one daily and love it. Best light I've owned to date. I also picked up the Olight SR90. What a light!! I still keep a Fenix P1D and L1D handy but the EagleTac has taken over daily chores. It comes with a diffuser lens that screws on in place of the stainless strike bezel and acts as a dust cover and filter for better flood. Good stuff. Shipwreck here on the forum recommended it to me. :woohoo

There's also a stand up tailcap, color filters, pressure pad, weapon mount and different drop in LED modules for it. I ordered up all of them with the light. Will try to do a review when it arrives.
