Does anyone else hate the TV ads that poke fun at white guys? The latest one in N. TX shows a fat white guy with a fat belly being vibrated in a recliner while holding a huge container of popcorn. It is for Ambit Energy. Why do they think making fun of a massively obese white guy will sell electricity?

Making fun of husbands and fathers is an all too common theme with New York ad agencies. The mothers, wives, or kids are the hero and the man is a buffoon. I won't buy a product that uses that type of advertising regardless how much I want or need it.

I thought that was the story line of every Disney movie made since 1970.
Except there, mothers and wives are either evil or dead and it is only single women and kids who know everything their bumbling fathers don't know.

The weak ineffectual father has been a movie staple since "Rebel Without a Cause" 1955.
Bonanza [1957-1973] was the king of the dead mother TV shows. There were three dead mothers of the Cartwright kids and uncounted dead finacees of the father and sons. Getting engaged to either Ben, Adam, Hoss or Little Joe was a sure death sentence.

Because you can't portray a Black man as lazy.... that's racist!

I agree with Charles, I don't like it a bit. Think about what civilization or the lack of it would look like without the contributions of the group that it's become popular to ridicule and make fun of.

We're the only gender and color that they can make fun of without being in trouble with the ACLU or some such reactionary group.

I know I am dating myself, but do you remember Dagwood Bumstead?

You must not read the funnies. You're dating yourself as of ... today.

Well, considering most "white guys" these days are nothing more than women in mens bodies, it is understandable...
