I've been keeping up with the rescue efforts to free the trapped miners in Chile. There have been two brought to the surface so far. The two rescuers who went down are some really brave men. Godspeed the recovery of these men.

It is 2:40AM and they now have 5 rescued. I pray they get them all out safe. I would think that they would have a rough time ahead recovering.
You are 100% correct about the 2 rescuers that went down into the mine to start the miners ride to the top.

Yep, I've been watching.
I happened to be tuned in to see the capsule make it to the mine, and then
watched as it made it back to the top with the first miner....incredible stuff.
Right now, 11 have been pulled up so far.
BTW, their flag looks very similar to our Texas flag.

I've been watching...such good news the capsule is working! Reminds me of the Jessica McClure saga.

(every time I see the Chilean flag I think of ours!

Think that's the guy who's trying to be last up?

Probably. Maybe he's hoping one or the other will get tired and leave.

I realize that this may cost this old goat his man-card, but I must admit that as the first miner got close to the surface and the coverage showed his son crying I was blubbering like a little girl. May God continue to watch over those remaining below and their rescuers.

How long does it take to get a man-card in comparison to the wait for your CHL?

I can just see it now. "No, no, after you".

Or, "Ya know, this place is starting to grow on me. It's so peaceful, I think I'll stay. Just send me down a computer with a high speed internet connection and an HD TV and it's all good".

Tell you what.... I would NOT want to be the last guy out. Can you imagine sitting down there alone, for an hour or two, wondering "did they forget? Do they remember there is one more? Is anybody still up there?"

I read that one of the men who went down was a paramedic to assess the miners' health and decide who should go up in what order. All really brave men.
