Does anyone currently use this OWB for carry? Interested and not really interested in IWB so I thought this would be a good substitue. For all those that have used or know someone that has used this model, please provide some valuable information enabling a good decision.
Also, I remember seeing somewhere a comp-tac holster that someone was selling that was leather lined? If you know of that as well, shed some light on that for me as well.
Thanks again to all who repond sure do appreciate it as well as this website. :???:

I have one for a 5" 1911. It is mostly my range holster & especially in the summer. I do throw a vest over it & carry it some. Excellent range holster. There are several adjustments to set the cant. Comptac reminds everyone that it rides a little higher than most. It does. Not an issue w/ me most of the time & I have autheritis.

It is a little bulkier than my HF1 that is my daily carry holster. I have no trouble covering, concealing, protecting it from discovery from bumps in crowded invironment but I do pay more attention to it than my other holsters. It is not as flat, close & tight to body as leather.

It is a little top heavy w/ a 5" 1911 steel gun. Lighter, smaller, polmyr frame gun probably would not be.

If you are new to carry & concerned about print, wear thin cover garment, carry a large frame steel gun, I will not give it a "high recomendation, go for it, yes sir for EDC."

If you have a smaller, lighter gun, wear a cover garment w/ some body or starched/ironed cover & you are not one who frets over printing you should have no problem.

As always. My oppinion & YMMV.

LT, thanks for the info. I plan on using it for a Kimber Ultra w/3" barrel that I have yet to buy. So, based on your comments it should be fine. Just looking ahead. Thanks again.

HarleyDave, do you have your heart set on that particular holster, or are you open to other suggestions?

I carry that gun in a MTAC from Comp-Tac. I posted a link to it in your other thread. Go check that. The MTAC, and the Crossbreed, are probably the two most popular kydex/leather holsters for IWB carry - which good reason.

Well, since you mention OWB...I have always been happy with Galco Leather Holsters. I used one for an XD40 and now use one for a Kimber. Galco Holsters do a great job of holding the firearm "high and tight". In all honesty, I find that mine conceals my gun just as well as the MTAC IWB which I also have. The reason I go with OWB is comfort. Plus my vanity makes it difficult for me to have to purchase pants/shorts that are one size larger than my normal size. ;-)

Galco products can be found at many of the larger gunstores, gun ranges, and even Ebay.
It will typically run around $75 to $100 dollars depending where you get it, but IMO worth the money.

HarleyDave,

My bad for not noticing the "OWB" in my response above, but in your other thread, I also posted a link to a Galco OWB holster, which is the one I use when I carry my 3" Kimber.

Again, here is the link: Galco Concealable Belt Holster

And here is a picture of it from their website:

Thanks. yes, looked at the Galco's and they look good. I was just thinking (wife says I do that too much) of the rust factor on my soon to purchase Kimber Ultra, in of course stainless. But open to all of these suggestions and trying to look at all options. I just like the input so when I make my decision, it is an informed decision by all those on this forum that is so much smarter and more experienced than me on these issues. But, again thanks and appreciate all input.

Thanks for the pictures VMaxer. Good comparison.
Sure hugs tight to body.
I have added their web site to the holster resourse & to my personal folder of holster sites.
